Completely Wild Acquisition Speculation15 Sep 2021 00:50
Larry successfully identified that Novacyt were recruiting several positions for a site in Stratford upon Avon??? No site yet we are aware of.
Example positions include Validation Scientists. So, what exactly does a Validation scientist do?
“Validation scientists are responsible for testing systems and machinery before installed and used for manufacturing products. They inspect equipment, audit procedures, and calibrate systems. Creating documentation of tests and result is an important part of their job”
So, manufacturing process with exact precision, such as products to very high spec? Anyhow, I’m no scientist so I digress.
It was then identified that in addition to the mega lab within the region, it is also home of https://www.celixir.com/ which is the former company that Ajan Reginald (CTO) was involved with he is still the specified company secretary and Director see CH file: -
https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/10541091/filing-history
Now Celixir according to companies’ house, in round figures delivered about £700k of revenues, it has cash burn of about £2m a year, some of it recoverable under R&D Tax credits.
The exciting bit: the company has various biotech products at various stages relating to regenerative medicine, stem cell treatments relating to the heart. One such product, called Heartcel is very close to FDA for the USA market and approval for the European market.
The product is under licence in Japan only, I’m not sure how well its working in Japan but trials in the UK and Europe took longer due to covid delays but it’s alleged its VERY effective and its injectable. However, Celixir will be running out of cash to develop and supply so would need either a capital raise or sell licensing around the world.
Heartcel™ is an allogeneic “off the shelf” therapy that will be marketed as a biotherapeutic ready for injection by the cardiac surgeon.
So, here’s the wild speculation bit: -
Novacyt buy the company and rather than look for licence partners they manufacture and supply the Heartcel product directly themselves to hospitals and clinics around the world in the same way they do Promate.
Interesting thought………. Could be wild speculation but then again they must be doing something in Stratford Upon Avon.
Alternatively, could be work at the Mega Lab but I would expect the Job Adverts to state they are positions at the mega lab?
Anyhow, time will tell I guess
