We are again now in an exponential growth phase sadly.
Everyone thinks its over, sadly not, the good weather and the summer Euros on will just exacerbate it.

One caveat, we need to see what happens to hospital admissions and mortality to see if the current vaccine reduces the severity of disease. Early figures would suggest, not so much but I'm more than happy to be proved wrong.

The innova tests are pants and should be thrown in the bin, it's the false negatives that are the issue, they served a purpose early on but have now been superceded by much better tests, they are adding to the problem, not helping. The UK reliance on them is baffling to me

They really need to sort out a proper border policy regarding travel
The tests are currently available from, funnily enough Novacyt for instance, that could make travel safer.
It will cost money but how about, testing everyone coming into the UK from anywhere with a PCR test, you can't leave the airport/port until you are tested negative.
Pain in the backside, yes, way to allow travel and protect our borders, absolutely yes, and so much better than what we have atm.
These may seem like draconian measures but the impact of not doing it means the country goes into lockdown and ppl die.
I mean for goodness sake, we're an island, we should have an advantage.
If measures like this aren't put in place, its just rinse and repeat.
This is a global issue, its going to take a global response to help fix it, we are a world away from this currently.
Theres no point getting the whole of the UK vaccinated then letting ppl travelling from abroad waltzing back into the country.
We as a country, have the means to control this much better than we are now, wasn't that a point of Brexit.
Unless we want to be stuck in this endless cycle something radical probably needs to be done.
Novacyt tests take approx 2hrs, the new LFT tests should be shorter.
When the implications of not doing this means the whole country shuts down and 1000s die, why wouldn't you do this. If you travel abroad atm, you know the risks, as we have seen today with Portugal being moved to Amber.

I can't see us ever getting out of this. IMO, its only a matter of time before a variant emerges thats resistant to the vaccine and thats the problem, until the world is safe, no one is safe, we are just going to get variant after variant being brought into the UK.
Indian variant now the predominant strain in the UK, infection rates up 80% in 1 week, be interesting to see if hospital admissions increase and sadly deaths in the next weeks, which early figures suggest will happen.
Chances of us being in some form of lockdown or local levels of restriction 100% by the end of summer.

@butchersbike, exactly. There's a global and I stress the word global market worth many billions that this technology could massively improve almost overnight.
Thats not hyperbole, the technology exists now, its just about making it more mobile, which novacyt have already started to do and opening your mind to the potential areas of application.
I'm a microbiologist by trade, I can already see how this could massively improve care and reduce costs.
I'm also a cancer survivor and can similarly see how diagnosis and treatment could be dramatically improved. I could go on and on about this.
With novacyt now, looking at their catalogue, there's already an extensive repertoire of tests, then move them out of centralised testing at a remote lab and bring them right next to the patient, this will happen IMO.
Cancer diagnosis atm currently can take months, if not years to diagnose.
Imagine being referred to a clinic with suspected cancer and get a definitive diagnosis within the hour.
This is the potential of this technology

This is definitely were we are heading, over time, the analysers will get smaller and smaller and quicker too.
I believe they will end up being small enough to be as portable as an external hard drive first and just plug and play into a laptop.
The applications for this technology are mind blowing and not just in health care, all kinds of different applications.
It already fits into a large suitcase I can't see it being too long before it shrinks even more.
This is one of the main reasons I'm invested here, not really anything to do with Covid, its the potential of the technology and the right company, with the vision and means to deliver it.
10 years from now this company will be unrecognisable from what it is today, I suspect the SP will be the same too.

If you have followed this company for any length of time you would know that they have and are diversifying from Covid their catalogue of investigations is quite impressive already. The fact that you don't know this speaks volumes.

Very interesting to read some of the responses to my post recently. Its certainly added some meat to the bone about my opinion of some of the more prolific posters on here if nothing else.
I shared the info as nothing more than some facts and some critical thinking on my part. Like 99% of the posts on here, it was mostly speculation on my part.
Interesting that ppl see the need to rubbish the idea and seek to undermine me as a poster.
My views are as valid as anyones on here. Like the assumption that this company has operational costs of nothing more than milk and honey and R&D costs is done for free by fairies and elves during the night.
I don't like surprises when investing and given the paucity of info coming from the company its only Natural that ppl will speculate, nature abhors a vacuum.
I trust no one on this board or twitter for that matter and base my investment on my opinion and no one else's.
For clarification @kaeren official validation from DHSC of Q machines and exsig and genesig was given and the contract went ahead, once validation, which every individual lab has to do on new machines was started, real people using the devices in the real world found it very difficult to work with. From that perspective DHSC doesn't have a leg to stand on, it was approved by them and the goods were dispatched, end of story from a legal perspective I would suggest.

I have no agenda here, I'm neither a ramper nor decamped, I just invested in a company and technology that I think will have a bright future and am now resigned to playing the long game with this.

@wilson, I've shared info on here based on info I know about or have some insight of. I offer this information with no agenda, but why should anyone trust me ?
I still maintain that covid is a money spinning distraction for novacyt.
Cancer diagnostics is what will make the biggest impact and I'm talking about helping ppl here, not making profits.
There are so many assumptions being posted on here that make me wince.
As I've said many times previously I'm in for the long haul.
Don't be disappointed when the financials of novacyt are released that they don't fulfil the expectations expressed on here.
Invest if you understand the technology and potential reach, if not, don't

On the ground I don't know whats happening in terms of testing and tracing. I would like to think they are clamping down and tracing all contacts. We know how quick it can get out of control

As much as I want to put more cash into this atm with the share price the level it is, I'm already over exposed.

Time will tell and tbh since the kids went back we have had no spikes of infection, at least any reported, which I was expecting so we will see.
Testing is here to stay though, so taking a positive from s negative i may eventually get my original investment back....

@HarChris As I said, I hope I'm wrong and I'll try to keep this brief as I hate reading long posts. Yes, the vaccine does give us a level of protection that should prevent serious illness to the original strains but not immunity.
Its a global problem, some countries have barely started vaccination.
The longer covid circulates, the more mutations.
In a dichotomy globally of vaccinated/non vaccinated we may inadvertently select out super strains.
Mindset currently in UK, vulnerable protected, youngsters not arsed as it doesn't effect them..yet
Country opening up fully on Monday, holiday season upon us, airlines saying lfts are OK. Ppl travelling globally then coming home.
We already have several variants with increased resistance to vaccine.
New vaccine boosters planned to current variants, by the time population of UK given booster, more variants will emerge, we will constantly be playing catch up,
Experts closely monitor variants with the escape gene, if or rather when one emerges back to square one.
I'd just add, I'm no expert, I have some knowledge about the subject but nothing special.
Nobody's safe until everyone is safe, globally, thats the challenge.
Seeing a fit 50 Yr old guy succumb to covid last night in the documentary brought me to tears tbh.
Spanish Flu killed off the frail in 1st wave, then came back for the youngsters. I don't want to see that happen again but everyone in the UK seems to think it's over. Its not.
