I'm paying more attention to hospitalisation and sadly deaths.
Don't trust the number of new positives being issued anymore.
Call me cynical. Anyone who has been reported positive in the past and us subsequently reinfected isn't added to the new positives counts now

Rather alarmingly i feel is that even the UK 'booster' vaccines are just another dose of the original vaccine, which tbh doesn't fill me with any confidence.
The problem with corona viruses historically is that vaccines against them normally have very limited shelf live in vivo so their effectiveness wears off pretty quickly, circa 6 months
I haven't done any research tbf but thought the vaccines elicited a longer immunity.
I'm a little confused about why they are going to give a booster of the vaccine which was developed against the original Whuhan strain which has now disappeared.

@WBA, I too share your frustration and the blatant manipulation thats going on, however, that comes with the territory on the AIM market.
For your own peace of mind, just go with the flow and concentrate on your own circles of influence.
Despite how wrong this all is there's nothing you, as an individual, can do about it. If you still believe that novacyt are a good bet, keep tight hold of your shares and put them in a bottom drawer and come back in a couple of years.
I know this field, it used to be my profession, I saw everyone else making money so thought I'll have some of that and invested a not inconsiderable sum.
I watched it shoot thru the roof and was 30% up at one point. Instead of crystallising that profit, I got greedy and doubled down, now 60% down, hey ho.
I am still in no doubt of this company's potential and the markets they can expand into. Playing the long game now, so I'll let my money sit and see what happens over the next few years.
If you can't influence change, relax, sit back and go with the flow. Quality will always come good

@steve yes individual labs can indeed order individually now, its wether those orders are being fulfilled thats the issue and if not, why not.
I don't know the answer to the latter definitively so would be guessing so I offer no reason for that

@B2H that's not an unreasonable proposition.
Not sure this government could screw up the handling of this pandemic any more but they always seem to find a way. They shouldn't have scrapped phase II, those q machines would now be well embedded and providing essential testing capacity in the community.
If I were novacyt I wouldn't be supplying any more kits until this dispute is resolved.
The matter needs drawing to a close, quickly, maybe this is the way to force that to happen IMHO

Thanks for posting this, so many on here seem to prefer to bicker over nothing and miss the important stuff.
I must admit I'm a little bemused atm as the booster plans for the UK is basically giving ppl another shot of the original vaccine which was based on the Wuhan strain, which no longer exists, it will confer some immunity but not sure as much as what will be needed and possibly could help select out resistant strains. Chances of the UK being the source of a world beating resistant strain are quite high i would suggest, our current UK 'strategy' seems to be designed to enable that.

Massive ploom of RSV now, which can be very serious in very young children and the elderly.
I thought I had caught covid last week, really unwell, temperature, hacking cough. Laid me out for a week, just starting to recover now.
Finally got diagnosis of RSV, dread to think what it would be like for newborns to get en masse.
Make no bones, this coming winter is going to be rough. Covid, Flu (of variant unknown) and RSV.
Timely, accurate diagnosis of said pathogens is going to be vital to help stop spread and help save lives.
I hope novacyt and other suppliers are gearing up for this as its going to get rough. RSV during summer months in the UK is almost unheard of and it floored me for a week and I'm still not great and have now been generous enough to give it to my wife.
Keep a close eye on your little ones in the coming months, its going to be busy in hospital.
Far cry from when I used to work in the service and we had to send Nasopharangeal Aspirates from babies, packed on ice to the PHE labs waiting ages for the results to come back. Not sure if this is good or bad news TBH, but this is whats coming

NHS imo, is going to come under extreme pressure this winter, I hope I'm wrong and ppl can throw these comments in my face next year but I think its going to be tough, just hope I don't need hospital treatment this winter, pretty sure I've got covid atm too, despite being double jabbed

I posted in another thread, the UK is already reporting a significant rise in RSV in children in the middle of summer, which is almost unheard of. So we will have a big surge of RSV in children, flu from an unknown variant and massive covid levels going into winter, what could possibly go wrong, we are truly led by donkeys. I'm all for opening up and getting things moving again but fgs, just wear masks. This winter is going to be really difficult. It didn't need to be this way.

NHS are worried about RSV in children particularly, seeing cases now in mid summer which is highly unusual, expecting a big rise in winter. Plus flu will be a problem too a big problem. As there were close to no cases of flu this year its going to be very difficult to predict and prepare the appropriate vaccines for it this winter.
With the complete removal of social distancing and 1000s of ppl mixing freely again, covid numbers will rocket so we enter winter from a very high base. The vaccine appears to prevent serious disease in most but if you are getting 100k+ infections a day, the small percentage of ppl hospitalised and dying suddenly becomes a very big number. Perfect storm coming and we can see it coming yet carry on regardless

@barnetpeter, DHSC doesn't want the product ?!?! Really, not sure where you dug that particular nuggest up from but thats total BS, since novacyt are also now an approved suppliers hospital labs order direct no DHSC involvement average NHS lab are doing circa 1000 tests per day, across all testing platforms which includes Q machines now, feedback is that they are becoming the preferred platforms due to capacity, ease of use and speed. Testing kits now just being ordered routinely as with the other analysers. Throwaway comments such as yours really don't do you any favours

Just FYI pretty much every positive is now delta variant, locally positives have increased by 100% in a week.
Interestingly the positives are being detected much earlier in the cycle times which would indicate that infected ppl are now carrying a much higher viral load then other variants which will make transmission much more likely. We are already in the next wave worryingly hospital admissions are up over 60% in the last week too

@earth, I would still recommend you have the vaccine, im double dosed now, it will still give a level of immunity, even if its not 100% it should reduce the severity of infection, it caused me no issues, was free, so why wouldn't you, plus it looks like you are less likely to be a spreader once vaccinated.
