@Saint, any sale is a good sale. Appropriate that they provide the tests at a lower cost for a charitable organisation. I see nothing wrong with that, if anything it enhances novacyt's reputation

I've finally listened to the presentation in full.
Whilst I normally take these things with a pinch of salt after being on the presentation side for a different company, I have to say I was quite impressed by it all.
My takeaway from the whole thing is that this is a company with its head screwed on right.
They are doing the right things both now through current market demands but also longer term in what the market will be wrt near patient testing.
They already have now the infrastructure to enable this.
As I've said many times on here, for me this is a hold share, the current management team are doing a solid job and building the company the right way. Many ppl criticise GM for being a scientist and not a business man but after listening to that, being a scientist myself, he's on the money.
Happy to hold, long term. Thus company is building up the right credentials to be a major player in a rapidly changing diagnostics market.
Many don't seem to realise how transformative this new molecular diagnostics market is.
I wish GM the very best for his retirement, he's earned it.
Yes, im very happy about my investment now, despite having an average of circa £10. Glad I invested.

I can't understand why the booster is just a repeat of the first vaccine, it doesn't provide any additional cover for variants.
Not heard anything recently about the longevity of the vaccine either.
Previous RNA vaccines normally have quite a short period of effectiveness, not sure how the effectiveness of the covid vaccines is faring, anyone else know

Onwards and upwards from here, the DHSC dispute is becoming more and more irrelevant, novacyt have materially demonstrated that its not the only show in town.
We clearly have a working relationship with them and they are still buying our products. It will be resolved in due time with probably a mutually acceptable resolution.
Thought the RNS and the presentation were really positive and sets us back on the road to recovery

@wilson, yep thats the fella, given the visions laid out in that for the future of genomics esp in the UK would be very short sighted not to get on the same page strategy wise

Re the oncology question, the reason for asking, i agree in some respects with the observations but I'm trying to understand the long term aspirations of the company post Covid.
Molecular diagnostics is a key part of the UK govs longer term strategy for better care (there is an official DHSC doc about this but for the life of me can't remember what it's called)
Trying to show that Novacyt are not a 1 trick pony.
The document also states that there will be billions of government aid to support UK companies to become a global leader in this field which Novacyt has the ability to do.
They have also done some work already in this area and I personally want to know if they are going to build on this.
In terms of securing a stable long term future for Novacyt, I think oncology, sadly, is the main thread, its an open ended problem, which covid isn't.
Plus, the altruistic side of me would like to think could make a real difference to global health.
I'm sure I've posted about this in more detail on here previously.
Lots of questions are dealing with the immediate here and now, I want to know about longer term 5yrs + aspirations, it could enable Novacyt to demonstrate that they are a serious player, not just a covid share and instil confidence in investors that there is, at least, a plan for the future

I'm rather disappointed not to see a RNS today, of any kind.
Thought it would have been a good opportunity to put the past behind us and novacyt to set out their future plans and strategy under new leadership and allow the company, hell , all of us to move forward together and reinstil some renewed vigour into this company and its investors.
Maybe I should reset my expectation levels...again.
Time yet I suppose, I wish I could forget I owned these shares and come back in a couple of years.

@Porky, all I'd like to say is thank you for taking a lead on this, some very challenging questions being asked, pretty sure anything of a material financial nature won't be answered but one can only hope.
I'm hoping that there a good reason why they have called this meeting now and would be delighted if we have a RNS beforehand. I feel that Novacyt may have just turned a corner recently that will enable them to crack on now. Not long to wait now.

@HarChris, if you have time, read a book called The Hot Zone, Ebola was brought into the heart of Washington DC, it mutates, see what happens in the book, its based on fact but I think my takeaway from it was that the human species has a very tenuous grip on this planet we call home.
Its not 'our planet' we are merely house guests, and bad ones at that.

@B2H, thanks for that, I'll have a look, its good to hear that DA has some experience in this area, I also noticed his first degree was in microbiology, same as me, where did I go wrong !!!
I've also got some skin in the game with this too, some cancer treatments still being administered date back to the 70s, which basically just poison you and hope that the cancer dies as they are growing so quickly and thus absorb more poison than the rest of your cells.
In the future ppl will look back at this treatment and be aghast, same as we do know when the Victoria's injected Mercury down mens *****es to cure gonorrhea, sounds mad now, was cutting edge at the time

I would like to ask what Novacyt are planning for the future in Oncology.
Whilst Covid is clearly the priority of the moment, longer term what is there view for the future, in terms of enabling quicker, more accurate diagnosis and also tailored individual specific treatments.

I'll leave it that broad, to see what they come back with.

For me, personally, this is the most important aspect of molecular diagnostics, infectious diseases are important, particularly Covid atm, but longer term, cancer diagnostics and tailored treatment is both going to improve prognosis and also kinder treatments.
I think this approach could be the key to making cancer curable. Laugh if you want to but I firmly believe that our own immune system is the best anti cancer treatment there is.
Our bodies kill cancer cells everyday in our bodies, being able to identify gene sequences or even replace missing genes, is key. Molecular diagnostics could be the key to unlock this pathway, £54 will be chicken feed if this comes off.
I'm horizon scanning with this but it gives me hope.

@Surfie, lol, its also a considerable sum for me too, although, as with any investment I make, its money I can afford to lose without affecting my lifestyle.
Investment in AIM isn't for the faint hearted, go big or go home.
Once we get the bloody DHSC dispute out of the way, which I believe will be soon, this share will find its true market value. I'm a lot less concerned tonight than I was last month.
Quality will out. Also I can afford to lose it, doesn't mean that I'm happy about it, that money was hard earned, still nursing a 5 figure loss atm. It'll be reet, don't worry

@Surfie, depends on what return your expecting, for me this is a pension type share, so looking for a considerable return on my investment.
To get back to where we where, I wouldn't expect that to take too long, so have a gulp of beer and see what happens over the next few weeks.
Its only money after all ;)

@HarChris, its hard to be sure tbh, so much of this is new, new variants will always challenge the vaccines. I have to admit, I was disappointed when I heard that the booster vaccines were just the same vaccines being administered again.
I would like to think that the original vaccines still have some effect so we won't be hit as hard as we were at Christmas. However with so much virus circulating globally, we are just a huge petri dish for mutations, in my opinion its only a matter of time before a fully resistant strain emerges.
Taking an optimistic view, the virus mutates to be be more more transmissible but its virulence drops, so it turns into nothing more than a bad cold.
Most things basic desire is to carry on living, viruses are all a bit weird, they are not sentient things, they are just bits of nucleic acid wrapped in a bilipid wrapper.
There are 1000s of ppl who are far more qualified than me looking at this in detail, including NCYT tbf but we are in uncharted territory here now.
I won't post my pessimistic view as that's just depressing. One thing I know for certain is that covid (and testing) are going nowhere for the foreseeable, pretty sure it will outlive me

Corona virus vaccines or any RNA vaccines for that matter, normally have a short effective period before immunity wanes.
The covid vaccine may be different as they are using different mechanisms from established technologies.
Judging by whats happening in Israel it looking like the effectiveness isn't going to be too long circa 12 months.
If this turns out to be true, then the world is going to struggle to keep up.
As we now know Covid, isn't seasonal, its a year round threat.
Try vaccinating just the UK, every year, year in year out, all ages
Add in new variants, that will constantly emerge. The population will soon get fed up of this, they already are.
