Until now I've thankfully not had cancer play a part in my life. But last week my uncle collapsed and he's got a brain tumour. He's very lucky in that it was operable and it's been hacked out before assessing the rest. Goes to show that it can appear out of nowhere and turn life upside down in an instant. I'm sure we're all keen to see all parts of Awacta becoming a huge success.

Struggled with that balance there CO! I've never really assumed (dreamed) we'd have the market to ourselves but as time marches on... First mover will help as it gives the chance to tie down capacity. We've a lot in our favour, affimers that are easy to produce, the FDA with no pressure to lower requirements (echoed by the Prof for the UK) so we're creating barriers to entry.

Seems a shame not to calculate it... 500m a month == £72...

Getting the calculator out... 100m a month, 1.2Bn a year. Net profit £3? £3.6Bn cash in the bank which is worth £14.40 nevermind everything else. Given Prof Bell is suggesting testing the population twice weekly for a period of time all the above seems to be quite conservative. Which is nice.

It’s not a case of them being quieter, it’s just that their role is limited to the supply of affimers. Assuming the development goes well then it’ll be another revenue stream and I’m sure both companies would want to release news on that.

I’d love to see affimers also used in a breathalyser if that is a concept that could work. The link posted by GB referenced ‘molecules’ and suggests it should work. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that affimers stick to the virus very specifically so I’d imagine it’d be possible to improve on the results achieved already and they’re certainly impressive.

This week is the first week we’ve heard the government talk about mass screening even though Blair (our very own Michael Mina) has been lingering in the background banging the drum for some time. The govt are very much in the mucky stuff and the inquest will confirm it. So what do they need? A scapegoat, PHE will do, so that’s been abolished. Next up, they need to look like the heroes. How convenient, a saliva based 10 minute LFD enabling mass screening has arrived. The timing of the PHE announcement was not a coincidence, it’s all tied in to making the new outfit - all thanks to the govt - look good. Mass screening will happen, they’re talking about it now. The only way it currently can happen, at home, in 10 mins, using saliva, is using Awacta’s test.

SDS, slightly off topic, but the problem is that the fines aren’t enough to stop it. In Manchester the organiser was fined £100. There was about 100 people there. Charge an fee of a quid and it’s covered. Take it in turns to avoid the doubling of fines.

It all comes down to manufacturing capacity. That won’t be fully in place until the goat indicate their demand. Turns out it’s for mass screening at a rate of twice a week per person. Well, that should cover it. We need every LFD manufacturer on the planet, certainly in the Uk churning these out. Then we’re talking billions, without any credit to anything else going on.

I said a fiver on test confirmation, Matt has done half the job. Then a tenner on test volumes, Sir John Bell has given us that info and it’s HUGE. I might have underestimated. If we end up with a couple of billion in cash, then you’ll quickly start agreeing with Wiggly that once value is unlocked elsewhere, the ‘crazy’ predictions become very realistic.
