Surely (because that's your name), the only ones sweating the arse dropping out of the market thru a lack of any Covid LFT news at the presentation are those STH who are over committed? The Covid LFT is far from the 'be all and end all' of Avacta's future business and incoming Affimer / sales contracts will soon boost the SP again. Greed is good - but only if you allow yourself the leeway of a fallback, longer term hold if that turns out to be needed.

Wyn, they are very well covered on the cash front as I was concerned by that too. They still had £48m (higher than market expectations) at the end of December so that is not a concern. Income appears to be offsetting that.

Nobody is saying he "won't" have news on the 22nd. We cannot "know" either way. We also cannot know why he chose the 22nd. Maybe it's because he is focussed on so much other good news from the company on other fronts, something there has been alot of. Maybe it's because they don't want to leave it too long in relation to last year because that would prompt yet more questioning and insecurity amongst shareholders. We don't know, so let's not set ourselves up for yet another fall or, equally, be pleasantly surprised if there is good news.

JESK, okay, let me give you a more solid example where the timing of the presentation in relation to prospective LFT news is concerned, and why I am advising people not to raise false expectations based upon their own logical 'hope'. I agree that Dr Smith is not stupid but at this time last year in the presentation he told us there would be be no reason to raise money. Shortly after saying that Avacta did exactly that and the price crashed. Imo, it is 50/50 as to the arrival of any news but that is a 'hope' and not a 'given, so don't 'expect' and you won't then be disappointed.

The LFT's coming in for flack can provide a real PR boost for Avacta, but only IF we are able to produce something of such high quality that it can then be presented by the government as a solution to the current concerns. C'mon AL!

Worrying 'double mutant' COVID variant first detected in India is discovered in UK

A coronavirus variant with a worrying "double mutation" has been detected in the UK after having first emerged in India.

A total of 77 cases of the variant, known as B.1.617, have found across the country up to 14 April, the latest update from Public Health England revealed.

The strain is of particular concern because of features two mutations in the spike protein combined in the same virus, prompting fears it may be more infectious or less susceptible to vaccines.

It has been classified as a "variant under investigation". It has been suggested that the two mutations may increase its ability to evade the body's immune responses - and that may also be able to infect the body more easily.

Prof Paul Hunter, professor in medicine at the University of East Anglia, said the discovery could be cause for significant concern.

"These two escape mutations working together could be a lot more problematic than the South African and Brazilian variants who have only got one escape mutation," he told The Guardian.

"It might be even less controlled by vaccine than the Brazilian and South African variants."

The anti LFT sentiment was just mentioned again on LBC or, more importantly, the unreliability of the current offerings and how they are seen by some as a waste of tax payers money. The problem for us is that the public hear about the unreliability and think it is standard for the LFT platform generally. At the very least we need to come very close to the recent S&S lab figures with the current CV if we are to overturn currently ill informed public opinion towards LFT's. AS is absolutely right to have held back until we have got as close to perfect as possible with the LFT because anything less than that will have a very short shelf-life where the market is concerned. Achieve it and it really will be boom time for Avacta.

My take as an agnostic holder? Some of those people are clearly derampers, although I do think those rampers who bury their heads in the sand and won't even contemplate the more difficult and quite often obvious questions are just as bad. Why do I hold? I was not being awkward earlier when I suggested 'I Don't Know' where some of the LFT doubts are concerned, including AS's character - broken timelines / promises of the past year. I also cannot understand those who profess to "know" or provide tenuous wishful thinking where the information to hand could be construed either way, positively or negative, and so they spin it. So, being unsure (I don't know) about AS based upon his poor timelines / lack of an LFT market product to date, why do I stay invested? I am a gambler at heart - albeit a considered sensible one - and the draw of FOMO has a powerful pull. My only real doubt about Avacta's future centres on the potential LFT making it to market (50/50 in my view) and I am therefore happy to take the risk of ending up holding longer term for the cancer trials if the LFT does not eventually appear. That said, if I sometimes appear to be negative on the LFT (genuinely based upon AS's "spoken" track record) it is perhaps because I have as little time for the rampers as I do the derampers. That is why I hold whilst possibly appearing negative to others with far more "optimistic" views.

Pretend deramp, Timster? Which part is not true?! Have YOU read the RNS's, watched the presentations or read the newspaper articles where AS has made broken statements, stated broken timelines or imparted what now appear to be over ambitious LFT aspirations. One question: How many LFT's have we sold in the year since AS first told us, rather ****ily, that "the technology works" and implied that it was just a case of sticking it into an LFT?

Timster, possibly not - but we don't know and there must be doubt based upon his lengthy track record, especially bearing in mind the following (which was sent to you by Mikey but it doesn't count because it doesn't suit your agenda):

Or what if the S&S ****s up and we do a SONA style drop or what if there's no news due to insufficient samples with rates decreasing due to summer and we get more 'shortly's and soon's', then a **** load of competitors release theirs in the meantime, then AV6K gets delayed to winter due to COVID and then it fails.
