Agreed LTI, it would be quite as efficient hence my caveat at the end, however i was merely making a point that the buybacks are useful as a long term tool..... let's say it only cancels 1/3 of shares over 10 years rather than half, it's still good news!

Regarding buy backs, so far whats been completed is a drop in the ocean. For perspective, Lloyds will have paid out near 19 Billion in PPI by the time it's done.... if over the next 10 years afyer PPI they plug that equivalent into buy backs it near halves the number of shares in circulation (at today's prices).

I certainly don't want to get too much into it and become a Lloyds forum asylum,

But personally I think its unlikely we will get a no deal - I think there will be a bit of give and take and well get some kind of flimsy half brexit deal. As such im holding - also I don't have a huge holding here, so if it did collapse to 160p I would heavily average down (bearing in mind the dividend that's likely to be circa 8p over the year becomes 5% dividend at 160p). Also its possible in 2019 the dividend could be even higher.

However each to their own and I understand fully people selling out. Sorry to hear about crystalising losses.

Fingers crossed this is the tip of a deluge of shareholder returns with divi and buybacks. My next top up point will be low 230's if it gets there, although I may hold off until Oct to see if hard Brexit is a likely outcome.

Agreed velo I'm sure he's playing hard ball, in fairness I would too if I was in his position. Is he the ideal man for the job? Not sure, his Ofcom links could come in handy though

Without wishing to be a pedant - we haven't actually left Europe yet! When we have and the jobless figures are booming, then start waving the Brexit flags (here's hoping post 2019 the economy is recoering and you get the chance to). Wage growth ATM is a bit of a concern mind.

RBS stated that was their intention (at least some of the govts shares next time they offload).... however I never heard any response from the govt, so it's unclear of their willingness to cooperate

still no AGM or dividend news yet then? This is one of my major gripes with DKL is the inconsistency regarding financial calendar from one year to the next, its like a random number generator. Its surely not too difficult to have a scheduled financial calendar.

Chartism is a very marmite thing. For me I have to say I am inclined with sarfeicht, however to be fair I will say parts of charting tend to become self prophesising..... I.e. when technicals get broken the algos can get triggered and movements induced. So I think for short term trading it's prob useful..... but to say what the SP is going to be doing 6 months down the line based on curve gradients etc on a single week, or even a month to me is ridiculous, business fundamentals and results will determine that.

interesting that they say the production issues are climate based, whereas Lincoln seems to be indicating its a cyclic plant issue. Essentially "who knows" seems to be the prevailing theory :oD

Market sentiment has been v poor past 3 years I would say (arguably 4 years looking at the SP), hence the subsequent fall in SP EX divi.... it's possible that sentiment has turned a corner, if so the SP should recover back to pre ex divi values within a week........ time will tell. Anyone shorting at ex dividend will have to pay the dividend (that's my understanding)

Glendo you could but wouldn't do you much good.... the SP value drops by the value of the dividend on ex divi day

quarters are all relative FK, an excellent Q3 isn't as good as an excellent Q2, that said you are right - as long as we keep having weak prod figs this is going nowhere. If we can string together decent / maybe record Q3 and Q4 that would set us up to maximise benefits for a decent Q1 and I think we would be back near 10p and people believing the hype again. Until something like that happens I think were sat waiting holding our noses. Flip side is more weak prods and this could slide further......heres hoping for the former rather than the later.
