I believe that BP. management are likly to know what they are doing and have a long term strategy. I think perhaps we should trust them to do what they are paid for.
Yes its nice to get a big fat dividend to reinvest, but these are strange times and BP. has a long road ahead in its transition to a greener profile. This is going to take considerable funds, and perhaps the share buyback forms part of that long term straytegy.
Short term pain, long term gain.
I wouldn't even miss a lack of dividend for a year, yes the SP would drop, but that is meaningless unless you sell, and as long as I am certain of the reason for the dividend freeze, and the drop in SP, I wouldn't be overly concerned. In fact some may even view the drop in SP to be a buy opportunity.
Oh and this is from someon who really likes a dividend, there is nothing like re-investing free money.
