This looks as if its driven by Cevian, who hold a 5% stake in AV.
It's unclear how this 4 billion will be returned, but could include further share buy-backs and or a special dividend.
I think it unlikly it will be entirely in the form of a special dividend.
The 4 billion windfall includes the 750m share buy-back currently underway.
The remaining 3.25 billion capital return is expected in the second quarter of 2022.
AV. does seem to be generating cash well at the moment, from cost cutting and its savings and retirement business rose
21% to record levels in the first nine months of the year whilegeneral insurance premiums rose 5%.

I believe many companies are embracing working remotely. Since being forced to, they have realised the substantial savings it can provide. Less overheads of course lead to either more profit or increased competitivity.
The downside is that some workers in these circumstances can become isolated and suffer mental health issues. People, despite what some think need human contact as we are in essence social animals.
Some companies have found a compromise, part of the week in the office and part at home, and utilising 'hot desking'. This still reduces overheads and IMHO may continue to grow in popularity.

BAE have announced that it has agreed to acquire Bohemia Interactive Simulations.

Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) is a global developer of advanced military training and simulation software. It is headquartered in Orlando, Florida, with more than 325 employees around the world. Bohemia Interactive Simulations provides innovative, high-fidelity training software products and related services.

This looks like a good fit for BAE, although I cant find much financial information on Bohemia Interactive Simulations itself.

I can see the reason why shareholders might be against share buy backs.
I would say that a lot of companies are doing this at the moment, and thats an awful lot of boards that contain people who are a lot more aware of their companies strategies than I, and most certainly more financially quallified to make those decisions.
My view is that its short term pain for long term gain. The pie may be smaller, but there are also fewer people getting a slice.

I wish you well but I can't see you getting a buy price of below £4.15, I think the next 12 months is going to see a slow steady rise.
Barring any nasty surprises of course.

That 50p seems to be a fence the horse keeps refusing, although it does on occasion put a hoof over to test the ground.

It would be nice, the stock is certainly heading towards the 52 week high of £10.935, and is well up from the low of £8.518.
I think (guess) it will not exceed £10.85 this year, but thats a decent price with an above average dividend of around 4%.

Thank you, its a good point, but thus far I have managed to avoid CTG by being careful when and which stocks I close in my BED and open in my ISA while making good use of the CGT allowance. Sometines it requires patience and has to be spred over a couple of years, but its doable.

The 52 week high was £9.836, so not a lot of headroom on todays SP. Of course historic SP does not mean it will not go on to beat that. However this isn't the type of stock that typically shoots up.
It is a dependable safe haven to offset risk in these strange times, while providing a dividend well above the average.
In my opinion its the type of stock every investor should have in a diversified portfolio, and it represents 4.92% of my own portfolio.
Sometimes boring is good in small amounts.

At the moment I'm confident that I could purchase UKW stock at £1.3295 on the open market, and with a bit of effort maybe slightly less.
I just don't see the discount as being that enticing, and would be surprised if many take up the offer.

I meant to add that TRIG hold interests in 79 assets throughout the previously mentioned regions.

I like this stock as it has a reasonably diversified portfolio which while mainly based in the UK onshore and offshore, also has assetts in France, Germany and Sweden. The assets in these regions are;
58% Onshore wind
32% Offshore wind
9% Solar
1% Battery storage

Given the unpredictable nature of wind especially, as technology improves regarding battery storage, this could be another growth area, so its good to see TRIG with a toe in the water.

I am not sure that it is the nature of this stock to shoot up in price, but conversly I don't think its likly to plummet, and it provides a decent reliable dividend, which would usually increase each year, with the obvious exception.

Ah perhaps that explains the small drop today, to be expected.

I think that any news that may have an affect on the stock price has rules which force it to be reeased in a RNS, so I don't believe they can withold information without facing penalities.

The dividend which I think is around 3.8% at the moment, is worth having, but is one of the lowest payers in my portfolio, and its not making up for the poor performance at the moment. It would be nice to see this back over £40 in the next few months.

Indeed, and of course the dividend which is I think around 6% at the moment isn't to be sniffed at.

I always welcome suggestions regarding potential investments. I'm pretty much fully invested at the moment, but intend to invest further in the next couple of months.
I will cast an eye over Begbies and Ramsdens.
I have been in and out of LLOY about 3 or 4 times in the last 30 years or so, and they have been good to me. I currently hold a position in LLOY at 46.86, so they are again being kind.
I am also quite bearish on AAF at the moment, but hold a slightly disproportionate position already so don't intend to add. I gives me some exposure to Africa which as I have stated before, believe will be a growth market over the next decade.
I would love to get into India for similar reasons but thats proving elusive. It would appear the easiest entry to the Indian market is through funds and ishares, neither of which is ideal as I prefer to hold individual stocks, with a couple of exceptions.
I must add, this is certainly one of the more informative, civil, and considered bb's I have followed.
