I like the sentiment, but what do you see as the catalyst for the rise to £1.2?

I already hold 5% of my portfolio in this stock, which give or take 1% is what I aim for to spread risk.
Unless there is a bargain to be had I probably wouldn't add untill I rebalance the portfolio in April/May.
I don't view the offer as a bargain, but that does not mean I don't like the stock, because I see it as good value that is likly to increase over the next decade.

What you say is sensible, but it's still unpleasant.
I have also held GSK, but for longer, and pharma does take a long time to mature from pipeline to bank.

I've only held a position in this stock since March, and it hasn't been pretty. It represents nearly 5% of my portfolio.
Thank goodness everything else is doing well, or I'd be looking for a tall building.

I got an email from Halifax to check my account regarding corporate actions, where I found guidance regarding the 1:13 offer at a discounted rate of £1.32. I'm afraid the discount didn't sway me.

I agree, I already hold about 5% of my portfolio in LLOY and another 5% in HSBA to give me access to Asian market activity.
I'm also on the renewables bandwagen with SSE, UKW, TRIG, and odly BP.
Africa is I think a market that is going to increase disproportionality over the next decade and I am about 5.5% invested in AAF which I raised a position in a while ago.

I mulled it over last night, and although the funds I had in mind are not free yet I decided to raise a position today.
Not as much as I would have liked but at least I have a foot in the door so to speak.
228 shares at £45.4296 (Including tax etc.)
About 1/3 in the ISA, and the rest in BED to move over when I have space in my allowance.
This stock seems cheap at these prices and I cant see the price of steel staying down for long.
While steel is their main product, I do like their access to the battery market via Lithium. Until current battery technology is replaced this is a product that is going to be in more demand. In a similar vein copper demand can only rise to the demand of the electric transport expansion.
They also seem to be heading slowly towards a more eco friendly sustainable business, which while I am sure its driven by public relations, IMHO is a good move as non eco companies are likely to face ever increasing penalities in the future.

Personally I'm not going to bother, the discount, and relatively small deal in my case around 760 shares, make it unattractive, I'd rather take advantage of any dips, if they happen. If not I'm happy with my holding at present, and in any case no room left in the ISA so these would have to go in the BED.

Looks as if a buyer has taken over 2m shares in several lots of 250,000.

Thanks, I had a rough entry of 39.95 to 44.20 in mind, only really started to follow the price today.
However I think anything sub 45 is likly to be a safe bet.

I have thought about closing and taking a 54% profit, but I can't risk closing and not being able to get back in at a lower price that will make it worthwhile.
For me the risk of closing outweighs the potential gains still to be had.
I think this could be a stock thats just worth keeping.

RIO is now well and truly on my radar and I will be watching this bb with interest.
Just waiting for funds to clear over the next few days and then I will be in a position to buy.
I have invested in stocks for around 30 years, but this will be my first foray into a mining stock.
On first analysis this looks like it has considerable upside over the next 24 months, and at todays prices a very desireable dividend.
I just need to decide on an entry price.

Sorry folks, just closed my position of 257 shares, with a 10.42% profit.
Nothing bad to say about SVT, just have an opportunity elsewhere for bigger returns and no spare cash at the moment.
If I had the cash I would have continued to hold SVT and bought the new stock.
Unfortunately SVT was the least desireable of the stocks I hold, and I am quite heavy on utilities in general, so it had to go.
Absolute best of luck to those holding.

I have no notifications from my broker Halifax.
How does one go about taking advantage of the offer, its going to take me a couple of days to transfer funds, lucky I read this thread.

Well whatever the reason its a nice little 5.9% bump up as I type.
I guess those fools are not as foolish after all.
It does make a nice change.

VOD is showing me red at the moment but I'm hopeful this will chaange over time, and as you say who does not like a divi.

Its still pretty decent, they take their bit and I get some nice regular dividends.
I don't usually like investment trusts, but this and TRIG give me an easy exposure to a developing market I believe in.
