Narcus, brilliant idea. I've got a trench to be dug in the garden. I am sure any veteran Vod shareholder will be more than happy digging into stony frozen ground. And at the end of the job, a great sense of satisfaction, not something Vod shareholders are used to :)

CSDI. Yes, living in a backwater where nothing much happens (apart from the odd disaster) is pretty much the way of life I prefer. I mean, if Vod shares rocketed, I might have enough money to take the Mrs away on holiday. And why on earth would I want to do that?

Dan, I really don't know why. I can see that the sp in NY could be higher if there is no stamp duty to pay, but, over a year ago, the price in NY used to be a bit lower so that does not hold water. It could be how dividends are taxed, but that would be more apparent nearer the ex-div dates, not such a regular difference over quite a few months.
As I said before, it would be nice if somebody who knew something about investing visited this message board from time to time.
If I were that bothered, I would look at a some other shares that are listed in the US and the UK.

If it was at 18:30 that was when the sp on the Nas started going down, but there was no sudden dip or spike there. I have heard that these are usually balancing or reconciliation transactions, in other words, settling accounts.

Vod ended 18.53 which equates to 133.95 by my reckoning, o.75% above the London closing price, which is the usual premium in NY. So it could go either way tomorrow morning.

134.40 by my reckoning just now, but London is always .75% lower so don't get too excited.
I also reckon a small dip in Japan overnight will lead to a lower opening, given that Vod on the Nas is not running away.

I have earned a few free shares today, but I am so low that it won't really make much of a difference (says the man for whom every 0.001 of a penny counts), as my immediate needs require a certain degree of liquidity. I will buy below 131.5 and sell above 135, so there na na na nana.
Made (saved) much more today by sourcing plumbing materials from ebay rather than Screwfix. It's amazing how much stuff gets "left over" at the end of a job.

I think that it is time to punish the optimists. I have just sold a tranche at 133.10 and the sp will fall a bit today, probably not below a repurchase price though.

It's half-time and yekiM has staged somewhat of a recovery. It could be anybody's game.
