Hi Dan, not with my broker, no, as I like to make that final decision, even tho' I have missed some deals that way. On the other hand, I have sometimes done better by being flexible. With these small deals, none in particular are a killer. For instance I just left the screen for a few minutes and it zoomed up to 126.11, if that was what I wanted I would have missed it. But if it had gone up higher than my target, I would have gained by not knowing when it reached my target, because I could have sold at a higher price. So there is very little in it, actually.

Hi Dan. Yes it is all about beating the odds, but then I have the choice of when to deal. A profit or a loss is only such when the position is closed. I am now waiting for the price to rise to about 126.5p to sell one tranche. Then 127.5p is my next target. My cash allocated is now maxed out (I am overweight), so if it falls, I just have to sit it out and wait. I might break that rule if it falls suddenly by say 5p, but only after it starts to rise again.

Just bought back those I sold earlier today, for 125.24 as per my plan, it's still falling. Never mind, it will go back up again.

Hi Narcus. I need a movement of at least 1p to make a small profit. This happens quite frequently. I also look to an annual increase in free shares of 10% through this method, which is not a high bar to meet.
My tranches are £5k so currently 4k shares. Sometimes I deal in two tranches. It is a bit of a hobby but I could perhaps scale it up a bit if I had more time and more cash. Maybe after a few more months, if the proof of concept is still valid then, I would perhaps increase the size of my tranches.
By the way for 100k shares 1 penny is £1,000, not £100.

Well the movement has to be a penny to make a tiny profit, but I am looking for many such small profits to accumulate a number of free shares say 10% annual on top of the dividends. At the moment, my tranches are £5k so 4k shares. Sometimes I will deal in multiple tranches. If it continues to work, I might scale it up a little, but I have many other commitments for my time (and cash), so it is not a top priority. It keeps my mind occupied anyway :)
I used to have neighbours who worked from home professionally as traders and they said they expected to return 10% to their clients annually, so I am setting myself a bar along those lines.

Narcus, well you never know in this game. With my current holding, my break-even price is 110.69p so I would have to make some sort of decision as the sp approached that level.

Hi Dan, age related. I can keep up to date on my phone of course, wherever I am. Phone's got a good battery life, and I keep the screen on for 45 minutes, easy peasy. Phone's got a good cover, well protected from the dust etc... Prefer to deal on my desktop at Command HQ, but not essential. Records of previous transactions indicate what prices I should deal at next.
Overweight in VOD shares at the moment, by three tranches. When I am overweight I am happier to accept smaller profits. Curry and cider, interesting... Do you live in Wess Vinglun by any chance?

Dan. Frank was far from an idiot :) He wrote and orchestrated his music like any classical composer. Also he produced a live recording for every tour that he did, hence the large number of records he made, thus forcing his completist fans to buy an inordinate number of records!

I was licking my lips at the prospect of a fall this morning, but I had to go out before it dropped past 127.5. As soon as I could check my phone, it was at 126.5 (wow!) so I bought two tranches. It later dropped to 125.5p and I bought a third. I was out and about driving when it peaked ever so briefly at 126.9 or so, so I missed out on a sale then. Had a site meeting this afternoon so I could not deal then either.
I am now overweight, waiting for a rise hopefully tomorrow. According to my rules, I should sell the next tranches at 126.5, 127.5 and 128.5 or thereabouts.
After having done 9 transactions this week so far, it has been like wandering in a lush orchard picking ripe low-hanging fruit.
Oh, and I had my first Covid vaccine! St Thomas hospital Westminster really well-organised and super-friendly staff.

VOD sp was in the range 145-200p back then.

Dan. It's due to the suuuuurging £. Just imagine what the divvy would be if we got back to the heady days of 1.5 euro to the £. More like 3p. But then the sp would be lower too as a lot of the earnings are denominated in euros.

Anyone thinking of joining Reddit? How many VOD shares would we have to buy to create a bear squeeze? I'll chuck in a fiver if it helps!
