H-hi, well if you are on Vodafone broadband and mobile and already have unlimited broadband data, and calls and texts, and you use mostly wifi at home and elsewhere for your mobile data, you can double your usage and it will have no effect on Vodafone's bottom line. Some of Vodafone's competitors are cheaper so the only upside I see is Vodafone charging more and hoping not to lose more customers as a result. Like BT, it is raising in-contract prices by more than CPI, good luck to that if Talktalk (soon to go private equity) prices remain the same throughout the contract. What VOD does as a wholesaler I do not know so much. Happy though that the shares are no longer available in Poundland!

H-hi. What is the extra income for VOD if people are on an unlimited tariff already? Being a boring infrastructure provider is not really fun unless you can jack up subscription prices, or get additional customers. In this dog eat dog industry, that is hard. BT and VOD are both advertising hard, and saying that subs will increase by CPI plus an additional percentage. If that holds, then income will rise, but I have Talktalk broadband and it's just as good and cheaper. Don't know what Talktalk will do now it has been sold on to private equity though.

This week's surge is along the lines of FTSE rising, maybe that there are fewer opportunities elsewhere for the kind of offer that VOD provides for its investors, so money is going into VOD instead.

Daniel, kingrav last Tuesday thinks that it might go to 1.15 when bonds come up for renewal. Personally I don't think VOD needs any reason to go up or down, it just does.

with Talktalk keeping fixed prices, and the huge amount of cash unleashed by the governments all over the world should produce asset inflation generally, including shares, so there is an underlying pressure for the sp to rise. At the moment I just prefer day trading.

Looks like we are in for a dip on Monday, given the drop on the Nasdaq yesterday, the rise in the £ against the dollars and yes, the euro, the £ back up to the dizzying heights of over 1.12 euros. How awesome is that? Brexit problems, what Brexit problems? Could do with a few more VOD shares to replace those I sold yesterday at 121.50.

Looking forward into the New Year, Tuesday is looking a bit too far ahead, surely.

Just looking at VOD's Fitch credit rating, it is BBB, downgraded from BBB+ in August 2019, and it appears now to be stable.

Or else the company would offer the bondholders new shares to convert from their bonds, and in the process dilute the existing shareholders, like Eurotunnel did.

Hi Dan, strange goings-on with legal claim by minority German KDG shareholders asking for more than the agreed buy-out formula in 2013, but that's business I suppose. With ballooning debt, worst case, the bond holders could take over Vod and wipe out the shareholders if things go pear-shaped, they must be happy enough at the moment with their fixed interest deals ...

It is tidying up an acquisition made in 2013, buying out the remaining minority shareholders, so no, it makes little difference.
According to VOD,
"The Offer is beneficial to Vodafone and will:
· be immediately accretive for both adjusted earnings per share and free cash flow per share;
· be neutral to Vodafone Group's credit ratings; and
· reduce Vodafone's exposure to ongoing legal proceedings related to the KDG acquisition. ...
The acquisition of KDG shares from the Accepting Shareholders who have provided irrevocable undertakings will increase Vodafone's reported net debt as at 30 September 2020 from €44.0 billion to €45.5 billion, increasing to €46.1 billion if all KDG minorities tender their shares. The full minority shareholding in KDG is already reflected as a liability in the rating agencies' adjusted credit metrics, so the Offer is not expected to impact Vodafone's current ratings."

Hope it bounces back a bit tomorrow as I did a spot of buying at under 120.5p today. Looking hopeful as already in the money, but of course with VOD you never know.

Not sure how it would, as it is a global firm and in particular lots of earnings in Europe. If there is turbulence on Monday, and VOD would inevitably get caught up in it, I would be looking to buy if it drops by say 2.5%, for a quick turn.

I don't think that Brexit dragging on has too much to do with this. Much of VOD's earnings is in euros, so a no-deal Brexit and the £ crashing will see VOD rise, everything else being equal. A very low £ will also see the divvi higher as it is converted from euros. So holding VOD is essentially a euro hedge, something I find useful for an unconnected reason.

Hi Oldie. VOD didn't do too well after going ex-div in June this year. Really hope it's different this time, but don't count on it!

Hi Daniel looks like VOD is in fast retreat in the US now, nothing surprises me any more. I still have a position at 114.7 should it go that low again.

Hi Daniel. Thanks for your concern! Strictly speaking I was not shorting but I sold most of my shares on Monday and Tuesday, but sold too cheap. As mentioned before, I have been dealing in tranches quite ok but ran out of tranches to sell once it reached 116p, so not too far out actually. I consider the sale or purchase price of each tranche as a position. I did buy some back today at lunchtime seconds before they leapt up again, phew, at average of 115.8 so I bought back fewer than I sold, but fortunate to do so as they then shot up. I think I will now wait for the results and hopefully sell on the good news!

Hi Mikey I could do with a helping hand. I need the shares to dip today closer to 115 so I can close a couple of positions. 114.6 would be perfect, after that it can go up again please.
