I think you are right. A small correction perhaps to reflect lower inflationary pressures, in the absence of any other news. Gas prices are indeed lower and will feed through over the next few months, and if Vod were worried about massively increasing energy costs, then these are unlikely to last very long, especially if they have the clout to obtain good tariffs throughout their areas of operation.
5% increase in share price today? Happy with that after recently topping up below that level.

Anyone know why Vod has gone up so much today? Any announcements or news, or is it that the "active" shareholders Cevian etc... have now divested and there is less selling pressure?

One bright point is that the £ is falling against the $ and euro. We need the euro and £ at parity at the end of January to boost the dividend payout. Come back Liz and Kwazi, all is forgiven ;)

It's dog eat dog. Vodafone had a really excellent deal for home broadband recently (£20 a month plus £80 gift card), and my existing provider matched it at the end of my contract after I contacted them that I could save money by switching.

As I write the SP is 126.39, so going up and down quite a bit today. £ is near to 1.20 dollars, and euro and dollar at near parity. Interesting.

I disagree with you. Inflation will devalue the overall debt, just as someone who bought a house 20 years ago now has the mortgage amount much less of a burden, even if it was an interest-only mortgage. A 45bn debt with a 10% inflation will be worth 40.5bn next year, if no more debts are added to it. Deflation in telecoms will happen whatever, and inflation will sweeten the pill for all concerned, especially the established players.

That's because most of the earnings are in euros and currencies other than the £, which has sunk just a little bit today on the back of poor GDP results.
