It seems NXT is slowly turning into a disaster. Not only will their UK customer base be shrinking fast in terms of disposable spending income, but the current demand issues will turn into supply ones given the level of closures within the overseas garment mfg sector. This coupled with the clearance of out of seasonal stock and the general High St. depression / closures and resultant lower footfall its difficult to see the Company returning to health any time soon. Thankfully its not my problem.

Whilst not entirely excluding BI liability for C19 within their wordings they do at least provide some financial guidance which is helpful. Their main exposure was always going to be via their Entertainment / Contingency book and clearly this has been limited by their RI programme. Overall reassuring but they should now try and limit any reputational damage by dealing with any o/s claims fairly, not that this will effect their Lloyds operation one iota !

Interesting that BBY also gets a Notice to Proceed with its joint venture HS2 contract worth £5bn, alongside other contractors such as Costain although the SP reactions couldn’t be more opposite !

Afraid to say but they do provide Interruption Cover. However like most insurers contagious disease cover is not standard cover , it has to be requested. Unfortunately ‘Denial of Access’ is a fairly frequent extension granted. Whilst wordings will vary, many Insurers will be facing the same legal question...not only from the disease aspect but also from lock down eg. has Government action , denied access. Oh to be a solicitor !

Don’t think Shareholders will be too impressed if they see their ‘stolen dividend’ being handed across to customers where there is no contractual liability to do so. Best would be to apply discount on renewals given lower historic claims record. See the French are seeking insurers to provide retrospective C-19 cover...without a charge, what a marvellous precedent that would set !!

The USA as usual want their “cake and eat it” and will be hiding behind their Antitrust Laws which prevent cartels or any actions taken which harm free market competition. The best they will be able to offer is natural well declines and directing production into storage. Of course they could introduce emergency legislation but no need when you’re top dog !

Whilst AML are burning thro cash at an alarming rate I see them surviving their short term liquidity problems given the arrival of LS and what he brings to the franchise. My real concern is what is happening to their Market . Many reasonably affluent will have recently suffered and may well delay purchases. For the unaffected Uber rich the AML brand, doesn’t provide the panache they seek, in volume. Feel recovery here will take a little longer than some envisage. GLA.

Guys in Tulloch’s position don’t offer resignation, they wait to be pushed then negotiate ( usually very lucrative) “Resignation” terms....thats Corporate life for you.

M. Investing for Dividends is now long gone.....it will take more than a few years for Company Balance Sheets to be repaired plus ensuring a Contingency Fund is built up now knowing what can easily happen.

Not many Companies will be able to say that they have adequate liquidity even in the event of shutdown for the rest of the year !! If that were the case, Greggs would probably be the only shop in the High St.

The divi hasn’t been deferred its been withdrawn (ie. cancelled to you & I ) and its back on the Balance Sheet as they are now able to quote increased Solvency Ratio’s. If lucky you may get a Special Divi at some future point, but thats of no comfort to those Shareholders on the Register now who would have been entitled to the Divi, and move on as a sign of disapproval. A tax problem here is probably some way off !

LC....we all have different risk strategies and I don’t have a problem with others wishing to set out their own views provided it is based upon factual detail, and not laced with OTT rhetoric. All I ask is some respect for others taking a much higher risk profile, than perhaps yourself. Many here will have substantial sums invested, myself included. Thankfully I can afford a complete wipe out, others can’t .....but you shouldn’t just preach to one side of the pulpit. GL

AAS.....I’ve always had doubts about our current CEO & CFO. Mark Wilson was a different animal altogether and his own man ( as was Tom Stoddard ) , he made a few mistakes ( Pref Shares) but who doesn’t when you’re not a YES man. It was a good team. Thankfully I sold my entire holding on his departure and only took a small interest 10 days ago, which I’ll keep as I can’t imagine even our current Mgmt being able to depress this SP much further ! GS. I haven’t studied the various Share Incentive Plans that AV. will undoubtably have, but suffice to say most large Bonus Schemes will comprise of cash and Share allocations. The latter may have an Invest date attached &/or KPI,s. Its a murky world, even if Directors were to forego the cash element , their Share options may be retained...who knows. This is not a significant holding for me, if it were, I’d be raising questions at the agm.

Can’t be many CEO’s who would wish to crow about their own bumper profits being caused in part by their own customers losses !! Strange times. Even Tesco’s had the decency this morning to relegate their bumper £2.95bn operating profit news onto page 3 of their results, knowing full well that they are recovering some £700m in rent relief from the UK tax payer ! It just reinforces my view that we are lucky to have AB at the helm !
