I believe many Shareholders would feel less disenfranchised if they knew all Director’s / Board Mbrs had relinquished claim to any 2019 bonus. With these likely to have been paid earlier this year it will speak volumes if silence is maintained.

First it was a V shaped recovery, then a U... but now Barclays have it down as an L ! If they could all just keep it simple, and call it an F....for we don’t have a F **king Clue, we’d all understand it a bit better.

Poker...I was referring to the lives of southern europeans ( where I live ) . I can show you real poverty already....no panic buying here....many don’t have the cash reserves to do that !

Agree this must be really tough for anyone self employed, especially those just started out with a limited HMRC record. For many in Southern Europe its somewhat worse where they have lived in a cash / black market society and declared little ...so they are completely under the radar with zero chance of help. Desperate times indeed for many. It puts any lack of divi into perspective!

Poker....the Market is rigged against the private investor. Did you see ASOS this morning....jumps over 25% on open...why, not because of a TU but an Institutional Placing at yesterdays closing price. No way were the II’s going to allow this to fall. Yes more capital to play with...and so now has AV. but we didn’t rise . Many involved yesterday will have found a route out already, leaving the novice investor now rushing in to wonder whats happened ...in a week or so’s time. Its not difficult is it !!

“ inside information” thats a difficult one as every Senior Mgr/ Director will, on a weekly basis have a pretty good understanding of where their business is going. Their actuaries will constantly be giving forward guidance...most of AV’s insurance is short tail, they know exactly whats happening....yes its inside info, but not criminal to sell until the closed period. Read any Director Sell as a Guidance Warning....and don’t believe such rubbish as its for Tax Reasons ! Basically the Market is rigged against the private investor, but guess all of us know that already . GL

AV. would be given more credibility if they had just stated the actual reason for withdrawing the divi. Somewhat patronising to talk about their concerns for others etc. They will have knowledge of claims/investment deterioration already, plus PRA embargo....just facts will do.

Society holds little compassion for those losing dividend income given many can’t afford the underlying asset in the first place. As investors a freak event occurrence is part of the risk. Its no good blaming the BoD for C-19 !

Would just caution those expecting to see 500p within a years time here. We’ve already seen one Analyst’s price target of 266 & that was with Divi expectation ! Hopefully the remaining pack are far more optimistic but until a consensus emerges I would temper your expectations. The full damage now being caused to all Financial balance sheets has yet to be revealed.

L&G only said on 3rd April that it was their “current “ intention to pay the divi. Times are rapidly changing , don’t be too surprised if that current position changes. It was pretty obvious AV. would cave in to the PRA’s wish.

BH...thats the dilemma if you’re not committed to the long term ...in your case take £1k now or maybe £5k in 3 months, or there again minus £1k !! May be a re-read of their last TU may help...as mentioned before few Companies are in a position of No Debt ! GL

Agree the Market is getting ahead of itself in believing normality will return anytime soon. However
GRG’s in a much better position on resumption of trading than many. It doesn’t have old stock to clear first...( think of Next PLC sitting there with Shops/Whses full of now out of season wear !) . Yes this will fly when trading resumes but we are not there yet..... GLA.

It seems the Market is anticipating the end of C-19 !...Slightly premature one would think . May be best to await result of Wuhan returning to some sort of life, before we celebrate. Seems it will only take a couple of infections to create a second wave, and that really will cause a problem.

One thing a Market hates is uncertainty, can’t see it panicking but it’s likely to throw off the DOW’s
performance today as an overshoot and be down tomorrow.

There are probably safer Sectors to invest in currently. Barc’s 1st Q. results aren’t likely to be good...their Full Year results outlook showed concerns & that was before C-19 & drop in interest rates ! Its really a question of whether results come in above Analysist’s expectations, as its not the private investor that can move the SP. If they surprise to the downside then all bets are off. GL.

GS....agree AV is a sound business. Unfortunately Mark Tulloch hasn’t exactly set the hares running. The Capital Mkts day last Nov was a fairly flat affair, just rearranging some furniture, and it didn’t go down too well. Analysists were quick to point out a few hurdles eg. he wants to grow the General Ins division 20% by 2022...for that he needs a dynamic Underwriting team ...I seem to recall their 10yr Combined Op Ratio was 96% ....so does growth come at the expense of the COR etc etc. I’m invested here for capital growth as AV is a bit of a juggernaut with many trailers attached...it will take a lot to be stopped but it needs a good driver, and the jury is out on that ! Only problem is the Private Sector soon runs to the Government when its mis- management gets it into trouble ....there’s a long queue now at HM’s door.....he’ll have every right to demand a “pound of flesh” in return, and as usual the owners ( shareholders) will take the hit.

The riskier the asset...the higher the volatility !! I’ve yet to meet a rich Gambler !
