It seems a simple case of off loading the RHM scheme to an Insurer for a lump sum, and the balance being transferred into the remaining Schemes currently in deficit. Why this wasn’t sorted out long ago defeats me, as its not rocket science, but guess RHM trustee’s were reluctant to see assets transferred to a third party Insurer.

Lets hope our new Chairman, when appointed, shows a little more respect for the long suffering shareholders.

Well if they believe in creating Shareholder valve they wont cut the Divi. Trouble is, I don’t feel thats a KPI for them. Haven’t checked but suspect bonus targets aren’t linked to the Share performance, more like Solvency Ratio’s which they have more control over !
Ps. I was never a cynic until I started investing !!

Shouldn’t the Petition be asking for Tax Relief only on sales via Licensed Premises ?? . Anyway can only see all Taxes moving one way once the Gov. count how much they’ve recently given away, so wouldn’t hold your breath.

I think we have to thank Colin Day ( our newish Chairman) for driving this. He’s probably the smartest on the Board and 10 yrs as CFO at Reckitts will have told him that by unlocking the Pension conundrum only then can the Company drive forward unhindered.

Well who would have thought the Strategic Review was all about sorting out the combined Pension Schemes. This now releases a lead weight from around their ankles.

Burgerov.....the problem we all face when an investment goes temporarily sour, is not wishing to convert the paper loss into an actual loss, unless its quite obvious that the investment is in a death spiral. Thats not the case here. The frustration is that much of the current problems with AV. are self inflicted. I’m not getting the impression of strong leadership. . Take the Divi., we capitulate to the PRA ( unlike L& G ). Yes be prudent and make a substantial reduction, say offering an 80% cut, but at least that would suggest it has been given proper thought and possibly been financially modelled. But no .....we meekly follow a regulators wish. That said I have no doubt AV. will pull thro. and in the meantime I wouldn’t discount a predatory offer coming forward, as others must see the potential here in the right hands !

Interesting article in the Times today quoting PFD as a likely beneficiary of traditional brands such as Bisto & Oxo doing well given that during times of uncertainty, such known & valve items give a degree of certainty to consumers. My view being also that with the surge in home cooking PFD are in a good position to capitalise on the current lockdown. Anyway must go a Sunday Roast awaits.

Some blame needs to be directed at the Chairman as well. Since Adrian Montague took over in 2015 the SP has dropped significantly and frankly I can’t see what he’s added other than manage to lose a good CEO & CFO and replace them with mediocrity. We can only hope that when AM goes later this year we get someone who actually has drive and vision and doesn’t accept passengers !

Personally I’d wish to have better visibility on Sales going forwards in this new environment. We know auto sales in the US plummeted 30% in March and are expected to fall further in April ...and thats 35% of AML’s market . The situation elsewhere in the world won’t be any better so until we know the impact C-19 will be having on their Market, I’m avoiding.

Agree Claims Cost will now be rising with additional event cancellations etc. What we don’t want now is another major disaster somewhere, but thats the risk insurers carry.

Jatw......thats a worrying volume of claims they are handling if it is taking 2/3 weeks merely to log a claim on their system, but of course Insurers do work on the ‘Lobster Pot’ model !

It suggests to me that they are not totally committed to the Company nor too concerned about Shareholders views ! Agree a short term ‘ haircut’ would send a welcome signal out....there’s still time , but not holding my breath !

Bandit....would agree with you. LS , being the shrewd guy he is, has no doubt kept enough ‘dry powder’ available for such a scenario. AML are certainly in a tough place at this moment in time....but the Brand name will likely survive in one way or another. Likewise on the sidelines but have decided to park interest. GLA.

Well AV. now looks to be in good buying territory for the LTH. Its newly acquired ‘cash cushion’’ from the cancelled divi. has basically been ignored, as even if it had been paid the SP probably wouldn’t be any lower than it is today.... perverse !

Reassuring in terms they have put an estimate on their Cancellation exposure, which was always my worry. Would expect their Net Retail exposure to be capped by RI but disappointing they don’t expect to get this COR below 95% till 2022. Their new’ish CUO needs to get a grip on that if she can...not holding my breath. Peel Hunts target of 800p looks realistic for now.
