Going too heavy with the buying would also cause an artificial upwards pressure in the short term that would suddenly disappear when they reached their limit for the day, causing the SP to go up and down like a wh*re's drawers?

That's just unpleasantly hot. And that's from someone who enjoys hot weather. Read last night that they are expecting to break 50c in Andalusia this weekend.

Taking a longer term view though, it will enable us to recover quicker afterwards with less shares on the table. Depends on timeframes needed by each holder I guess

I'm a longtime lurker, occasional poster, and semi-recent investor in enet.. I totally get that investing is a long-term activity, especially after making a few mistakes of my own in my early days. However I do get a feeling that a lot of the latest generation of retail investor believe that you put a tenner in on the Monday and walk out a millionaire by midweek, be that on crypto, shares, FX or whatever else. These are going to end up getting burned badly. No doubt a few have made a handsome amount of money out of it, and are very keen to let everyone know that, but there are going to be a lot of (mainly younger) people who are going to lose, and in some cases already have lost, a lot of money when the music stops.

Spight's prediction would be nice, MarkGo's seems more realistic though.

Agree with Johnnyboy, it may not he popular but everything in society is gearing towards green. BP could stand still now, and probably make an obscene amount of money, however it would render them irrelevant in the future.

BP should certainly stay in the game as an oil producer for the forseeable, but it needs more strings to it's bow to futureproof itself and become an energy company that is still relevant 10/20/30 years from now. We seem to be on the front foot with that transition with respect to other oil supermajors.

Albeit by a whisker on a couple of days, we had a full house of blue days last week. Probably due a slight red day.

Leas, unsure on DRIP shares. BAYE (Buy As You Earn) are bought on open market so no new shares issued, the annual SAYE (Save As You Earn) are to my understanding new issue. There's a question on the current AGM voting around authorising that for the forthcoming year.

Its a staff payday so may well be BAYE (SIP) purchases going through

As Ive said before on here, just letting this one run, with a divi reinvestment in place.. let it quietly compound up while it keeps on with it's steady rise.

It's the share that never moves. Manouverability of an oil tanker. Pandemics, takeover offers of rivals at a premium to the weekend SP.. just never moves. Good for a divi generating source of income, but never going to give a thrilling ride.

Reduced, but not eliminated the pension defecit. One of the bones of centention around the special dividend in my opinion.

He's talking about the expiration of oil futures contracts at the end of the month, which can in turn lead to volatility of the oil price, which can in turn cause volatility of BP..

I think a key thing to remember also is that we haven't, and won't in the future, just flick a switch and become an entirely 'green energy' co overnight. Like any major change, especially in an organisation this size, that will take place over many, many years. Personally I think short term there is a heck of a lot of pent up demand for aviation, and in turn fuel, that will suddenly be unleashed later this year or at worst early next year. Longer term I think our plan to transition to greener energy solutions is a sound one and could possibly put us a significant step ahead of our competitors. Different sector but one I know well, remember when TSCO started investing heavily in online in the late 1990s and all the naysayers said it was a fad, just a flash in the pan.. all the others operating in that market followed suit, some many years (too?) late.
