Interesting to see how the market will respond this morning to our out-of-hours RNS yesterday teatime.. do we:

Drop due to the deal falling through/lack of clarity around circumstances surrounding the reversal of the transfer of stake

Rise with no new major shareholder on board, just the previous existing one, who has deep pockets and is on the cusp of a forced bid for the rest of the co. with his holding

No/minimal change given the continuity of ownership

I really don't know with this one.

Possibly, not sure/can't remember with other firms like BP. who have been doing large scale buy backs and what they do leading up to results.

It's interesting to note that there has been no buybacks for nearly a month either.

Because the London market considers the rouble to be overvalued at the minute. As I said yesterday, time will tell.

Given it's current valuation of 152m being that of a junior explorer or a financially distressed co, of which this is neither, I'd say it would be multiples of current SP.

Even more if there is more than one party interested.

The problem is, the London markets don't believe that RUB is at its actual value at the minute and is being propped up by the Russian govt

I understand the usual need to do this when a share spikes out of the blue, especially startups and microcaps, as they often don't hold that value for very long - I remember missing out on a huge gain on AMC several years ago by getting greedy - but this is a well established company that has had its share price absolutley smashed by factors that are completely out of its control and well away from its area of operation both geographically and in terms of the market it operates in.

Trying to trade dips on this one carries an extremely high risk of being left behind as it rerates to its actual value.

Off the back of today's rise, are POG buying their own shares to drive the price up and fend off any on-the-cheap takeover attempts?

Pog haven't defaulted, they've got the cash, they just literally cannot physically pay the creditor due to sanctions.

Agreed, I would say though that any buyer would likely pay considerably more than market value and would also need to be someone with the experience and contacts for doing business in Russia, especially in the current climate.

Topped up by an extra 40% at just shy of 1.5. I'm happy with that as a short-term punt.

Lloyds re the 200k US Marines.. I know the Russians took a similar approach with the Donbas, however they were fighting a much smaller and less well equipped force. The issue with the US doing it is that once out of a standing army they are effectively mercenaries, and if captured aren't subject to any international law.

They'd do horrific things to any captured US 'holidaymakers'.

Bobbins, I think China are slowly distancing themselves from this as they don't want to be screwed financially like Russia is currently being.

They've also got a Taiwan-sized fish to fry.

Plus general market conditions today. If this conflict continues for any time this will be one of the 'safe haven' stocks that will see money put into it.

Plus only a few weeks off FY results and any potential increase to dividend.

I'd love to see 220-250 by eow but I'd say it's a little on the ambitious side.

I assume by enclave you mean the Donbas. That's pretty much the whole of eastern Ukraine, probably an area the size of the UK looking at a map.

It's also not an enclave as it's not entirely surrounded by one other country.

b-b might be a slight problem getting travel insurance and the like given we're currently advised against travelling there.
