To address Perths concerns, renewables just aren't able to provide the energy Australia needs at the moment, and shale-gas generated electricity produces less than half the emissions associated with coal generated electricity. Australia needs gas to produce it's electricity, the only aternative would be to ship gas in, thus creating a much larger carbon footprint. The NT gascoukd also help China reduce it's CO2 emissions. Methane emissions can be reduced effectively using modern emission reduction technologies as used in the US.

Agreed Orson, Gunner is no clown, and only a clown would consider the thought of a referendum, just look at the mess that's happened in the uk - the referendum has created splits and divisions within. The latest poll also shows that the NT majority support the moratorium being lifted, only the NIMBY crowd are opposed, and even that is not overwhelmingly so. After the draft report, Gunner may already know what his decision is to be, there would be no advantage to him or the NT too drag the decision out any longer than necessary, I don't think it will be long before he pulls the trigger.

I feel that LTG may feel partly responsible for the swing in favour of the moratorium being lifted - the deceipt and accusations that they made during the inquiry process appears to have damaged their credability. This survey had come at an optimum time and may assist Pepper and Gunner in making their difficult decisions.

I am hoping that the price will double after Gunner pulls the trigger, and drop to less than half if not. It's quite a gamble, but if we are to believe that Gunners decision will be based upon Justice Peppers final report, then the odds appear favorable, particularly as the NT are billions in debt, this may be their best hope of raising some much needed cash while creating jobs. They would be crazy not to put the regulations in place and get on with it asap!

My feeling is that Origins timeframe is more realistic. After the final report lands, we then need to wait for Michael Gunner to give the go ahead, he is then likely to implement regulations before exploration commences. This is going to cost valuable time, but Gunners decision to the lift the moratorium will be key, after the moratorium is lifted, then I can't see the SP going sub 18, even with a start date in 2019. It is good to see some larger buys, they can see the value in buying just before the final report lands, but I can see many more waiting for Gunners big decision before stepping in.

Nice to see someone snapping up 250,000 shares today, making up for the total of numbers selling. Maybe it's Newty buying back his ten percent again ;-)

Thank you both for your posts and opinions, I share the same thoughts. With the final report to drop any day now, and Gunner expected to pull the trigger soon after, this should create some confidence for many investors who have been waiting to move in. 2019 is a realistic target for drilling as some regulations are likely to be rewritten even before exploration continues. If this is the case, and 2019 target goes to plan, then I can't see there being any downside to the current SP, I'd hope to see things steadily heading onwards and upwards very soon.

This year has been a long wait for the Final Report, we have a good idea that the report will be good news, but we then have to wait for Michael Gunner to remove the moratorium and decide upon when exploration can resume again. Any delays in the process could be another good time to top up, personally I'd like things to get moving ASAP, if the Final Report lands tomorrow morning, then I may be able to claim a few beers!

Lucro, Lock the Gate alliance have been trying to bring a delay by arguing that there is no difference between exploration and development, so they asked that all new regulations be in place before anything happens. It appears that Justice pepper recognises there is a difference, but i believe she is suggesting that some new regulations will also need to be brought into place for exploration, we will have to wait and see whether this will delay exploration. Let's hope the pendulum of upcoming good news will see the share price move forward to where it deserves to be.

Drilling this year looks unlikely, but removal of moratorium looks a done deal. Hard to say.how this will affect the share price, I'll be hanging on until we are bought out, unless the price goes crazy after drilling confirms expectations and takeover rumours start flying round!

Thanks WW, good to hear about the effects of fracking on the jobs in the Permian Basin - far more than even what even Pangaea is predicting. Lots of positive threads, the future looks bright, the only negative is the possibility of a delay, drilling may not happen until 2019 as Origin suggest.

During recent hearing submissions, the chair leader also talks of implementing some regulations for production, such as SREBA, and others for exploration, such as Well Integrity Recommendations. It is positive that the panel are willing to differentiate between exploration and production, going against what Lock The Gate are hoping for in order to maximise the delay, but it appears that exploration isn't going to be able to continue under the current regulations.

Justice Pepper has stated in recent Inquiry hearing submissions that it was impossible for ACIL Allen to assess the potential economic benefits from development of unconventional Gas, based on just one well alone. She says that the results of the economic report have been mis-represented by the press, and went on to state that she asked ACIL Allen to be very conservative and suggested the economics will likely be double what has been reported.
