Stockopedia had an article on the possible effect of a vaccine on COVID testing companies. We have already sen a mutation to Mink in European countries. I had no idea mink farming was either still legal or so abundant. They have quietly been ruling minks since July, so they have been trying to keep a lid on that for a while. My thoughts about vaccine. Not sure I'm going to rush for one. I don't even like the flu jabs. Iy seems these vaccines are very specific to particular strains of virus. Many of the test kits under external verification will test for other pathogens than just COVID 19. In order to get Travel, sports and entertainment events not to mention workplaces running anywhere near normal they are going have mandatory testing which will have to be cheap and reliable. I love that the Fins are suing sniffer dogs. They have been using them for all sorts cancer screening for some time, but not likely to become standard practice as nobody has really come up with a scientific explanation. So I think you are right S. Screening for airborne pathogens is with us for good.

I kicked myself for not selling various stock. it seems the ones I do continue to rise like ANP on no news or volume and the ones I hang on to continue to drift. I did get into a TTG a few weeks after it fell back. The FT rubbished the companies Virolens that they manufacture. Test for Covid. Quick, easy, and cheap to use. Requires no laboratory. Just a swab test. I emailed the company about the FT article which they claim was unfair and inaccurate. They are having it authenticated at the moment. Should be massive for TTG if they get the product externally approved. The thing is its virtually a free shot for TTG because they are an electronics business, so even if it fails they still have plenty of other business and Boris kindly gave them 5 million of our money towards initial manufacturing. Has been trading around £2, this recent placing price to purchase a US electronics business. So virtually nothing priced in for Virolens because of FT article which knocked them back down 40%.mAnyway. GL all for and maybe the Florida orange will be truly squeezed out by next week

Had the same problem R. My message disappeared in the ether, and now appears. Probably pages of lost posts suddenly appearing after weeks of 'maintenance.' I see some commentators are suggesting test won't be need much longer after the vaccine is available. What they seem to forget is Its only available to frontline and over 85 year olds. So the majority of global population are unlikely to get vaccine for sometime even if wanted, not forgetting the delay in trials when a volunteer died who hadn't actually had the vaccine. There are all kinds of ways for testing for COVID not just humans but air sampling as well. Testing could be mandatory for all travel, sports and entertainment events.

Morning T. Sainsbury cutbacks are mostly about Argos. There is so much competition and not just Amazon. Perhaps more surprisingly and disappointingly is the closure of fresh food counters. I guess they are an expensive loss making luxury from the old days. Re AZN, Must be very difficult for drug companies and the test companies to know when to release updates. A lot of the previous rules are changing to try to accelerate approval which has lead to extreme volatility. One university scientist involved in approvals of drugs and medical testing equipment said its like the Wild West out there being bombarded by journalists and new companies anxious to get accredited and approval by government departments.

V. The market just seems delighted that the US are holding and election. Trump is having to deal with a lot of realities as well as the possibility of not winning the election. First of al he has to get his head round some one getting more votes than him does not constitute fraud. The there is the very real possibility that without the protection of the presidency, a lot of his retirement is going to be spent facing all kinds of charges he likes to throw at everyone else. I think there will initially be a massive relief uptick if he does go. Its so hard to understand how this has effected the markets which appear to have halted their downward trend for the time being. That could of course be coincidence for the most part, and a distraction from the real economy. I think we go through waves of panic and then adjust. Certainly people around here seem much more relaxed by the new lockdown. I guess it will vary in different regions and any unemployment, youth or otherwise is going to require the most urgent attention and efforts . Hope its been a better day for all.

Interesting time for Air b&b to launch an IPO. (not an iPod thank you google). Think I'll pass on that . Who knows what rule changes will come in after COVID. They are already clamping down on AIR b&b in the States and won't be surprised if they do here. Half the properties on the Kent coast seem to be air b&b which is not what the original idea. It was supposed to have been about letting a room or a sofa out not compete unfairly with hotels and bona fide b&b. Ive used it myself and it has been great, but I think Hotels and others will be on their case coming out of lock down

S. Have just been quizzing a couple of guys about TCM. There are some serious questions about this company. One guy has been short for over a year. I didn't know people held shorts for that length of time.He did admit he closed it at £1.50 today. Anyway there are questions allegedly about their actually cash positions. Plus the other guy looked into the two bids, neither of which he liked. One is a toddler nasdaq, probably without the cash and the other isn't quite clear about what it is offering so looks like a load of baloney. Hence a fairly modest sp move for a takeover.On the strength of it I think another wise move by you . Sell on news

I think many fund managers admitted to running scared in march because a) the market was on a charge after Brexit/ Conservative romp, b) fear of unknown. c)The market was nearly 2000 points higher than it is now. d)We know the worst effected sectors. e) life goes on for the time being. Will be interesting to see how FTSE reacts tomorrow. Seems like we've been reacting to Europe lock down in recent weeks so would have thought the recent falls already priced in as the lock down was pretty much expected as every where else is. Ireland will be coming out of their lockdown days after we start ours. It strikes me that the main problem is some kind of global coordination if we ever want to travel again. Even a child of 2 could work this out! Gove has put the provisor in today that will extend lock down if necessary. Maybe we should retrace to the last election and get a coalition formed. This government is like someone flying a plane and then announcing they have absolutely no experience

T know what you mean about the IAG board, just looks horrendous. Very hard to know exactly what is going on inside these companies. I like that they are on the acquisition trail possibly. Must be in pole position of airlines to take advantage of whatever shape air travel takes from here, and one that governments will look to for that recovery.

We did the Roscoff to Plymouth crossing a few years back. I remember finding a really nice restaurant overlooking the sea . They said we couldn't have the table in the window, so we turned to leave explaining the boys (then 3 and 5 ) would be too disruptive if we couldn't have the window table so they let us have it. Don't think that would work over 20 years later. Sounds like it could be a quiet crossing if a bit blowy. Got 3 risers in the top risers table today, MWE, IGP and CLG, thats a first in months.

Very sensible V shaped recovery! And a good position to be in. There are some ridiculously good deals out there that just keep getting more ridiculous. There again always expect the unexpected. there are many great saying captions every time I open up Stockopedia. 'In order succeed you have to go against the herd.' and 'if investing was comfortable you would never make any money', definitely fall into both categories there, but not seeing the money yet!

V. Sometimes I think its poor savings rates that are keeping the market up, but others think uk stocks are among the cheapest in the world. Some days I think is today the day I throw the kitchen sink at the market when I hear many companies saying we are already in a V shaped recovery, and other days I think why bother. Certainly holding off for now but I think there will be opportunities to commit more money to the market in coming weeks with media reaching new hysteria heights. Every morning we seem to get a new ex spurned government scientist dreaming up some new hypothesis and I told you so. The American election holding back stimulus seems to be the main drag at the moment. Companies are still coming out with decent results whether thats because of or inspite of COVID is not crystal clear. I learned today about my sons new house which is twice the price of what I thought he would be able to raise. Good luck to him. I think he has little group of old high school friends that are competing with each other. I'm way past my sell by date!
