He lost a packet when he did that back in march. I think that is quite a clever hedge. He could be in a win win situation. I know we usually follow the dow like a distant lost puppy most of the time but there are exceptions and his could be one of them. The Dow is obviously way over priced and similarly some uk stock are way undervalued Imo. Expect more consolidation and merger activity in new year. Not identified anything specific yet. Any hunches?

I don't think hey will have come to an agreement about any other use for Manston, even though it has the longest runway in UK apparently. Its actually about 45 minutes from Dover so not exactly handily placed. The M2 (alternate route to M20) is already over burdened with traffic to trendy Whitstable and Margate. Spent 2 hours checking and tightening up all the loose push fit joints on the central heating system.

Nice day T. just popped into Sainsbuggers to get some stuff to decorate the cake and this bottle of Cotswold 46% single malt jumped into the basket. Outrageous! Never tried an English whisky before hope its better than the Welsh one I tried. Probably the tenner off and 46% swung it. Aberlour used to do one at 60% you could buy from Waitrose . They don't stock it anymore cos its trrippled in price. Absolutely mind blowing in every sense so just as well really.
Yes Ive got a bit overboard in MCRO and Saga. I didn't realise quite how small MCRO was. I suppose it wasn't a couple of years ago but not a lot of shares for a company like this size which is great when its going up! Better take Bilbodoggins out again. Looking increasingly mischievous. Thank god we were heading in the opposite direction. Miles of lorries double blocking the dual carriageways. Old bill obviously caught out again. S Yes both of us. Its been years of funding and defending intellectual property etc, and I've never seen Accoya wood in a timber yard. I did get a quote for some 150mm x 15mm t&g about £400 for 40 mts, so about a tenner a metre! There is a joiner in Canterbury making doors and windows exclusively with it. It could still be a bargain by the time their waterproof MDF hits the market. Probably be about £100 a sheet! Still considering the shares.

Thanks guys, sharing your experiences living abroad. My friends who moved 2 years ago went the whole hog straight away. French citizenship drivers license, health insurance. On the other side I have family who has lived there over 40 years still has an English driving license! Don't know how that works.
Sorely tempted to move there myself a few years back having worked in France a few times. The French college I worked at put me off a bit, was breath of fresh air compared to English education. They told me how it was all changing and jobs and pensions not as good as they were. Same the whole world over it seems. Mostly I don't think it would have been as good for our boys as they have done so well here. Perhaps I do them an injustice as they constantly surprise me! Might consider renting somewhere in France or Spain for a bit now I am more free. Be too hot for me all summer.

In what way dod you feel a looser S. Have friends who moved to France because of Brexit, admittedly had one who sold up on the day of the vote after living there for 30 years but that was more to do with age and retirement I think. Must be a little disconcerting though, but better than a time share?

I see Hornby are now saying no more exports till after Brexit. Its not Brexit that is the problem its the mismanagement of it by both sides having had 4 years to work it out!

"city of daudlers and loafers.' Sounds my kind of place. How long have you had a place there and could you live there full time? Language must be a bit challenging. Morning all . T it was a 'buzz' possibly on BBC news feed about MP's speculating a deal was moving nearer and hence a little jump in the ftse around 4ish yesterday. Not that it has continued this morning. I had 3 failed attempts to buy more MCRO last night, so was convinced it was going to rocket this morning. Bit of a damp squibb now. Still my CNC shares jumped on trading news this morning. Strange how some companies are overly cautious ( they issued a statement in August saying earnings would be below last year , now they are materially ahead) . Better that way round I suppose.

One minute it sounds like we may get a deal the next a journalist is describing EU negotiators as similar to the mafia. Another as the new Catholic Empire. Always had my suspicions. I voted remain, but we definitely need to be out. Shame they just had to ruin a good thing

Thanks T. Yes that is a good explanation. I can understand a shortage of stock on the 20 % rise day , but the recent falls have been a lot more gradual. Interesting post by a guy on shorting. I didn't realise that if you short a stock and it goes ex div the shorter is not entitled to it and is liable to pay the dividend on the borrowed stock. Another reason shorts on MCRO are rapidly reducing.
