Good morning from sunny Deal! I guess that won't last. the air is still freezing. After receiving an offer of £100 compensation from IWEB, case closed and a phone call last Tuesday saying the shares would b transferred by the end of last week. Email this morning from new broker don't trade any shares yet they have not inputed your stock as promise last week and two of the ticker codes are wrong. Phone to iWeb been ringing for well over half an hour. They are exceptionally busy and expect to answer call shorty, well ten minutes they originally said, a bit like everything else they say, Rubbish.

Well done with AXS S. Forgot all about it! Shortage of cement, lime and timber, don't know how any buildings are going to get finished. In fact its not a shortage, there just isn't any. Well done with Yellow Cake N, I got into Uranium about 12 years too early and the company went bust. However things have turned around with my biggest holding SWG, proof that averaging down can work out well sometimes. Jlp eventually got going after good news all week and something seems to be happening at N4P. Looks like we are going to need it in the coming years. Have a good weekend all.

Interesting. Received an offer of £100 in full settlement of my complaint to IWEB. Take it or go away sort of letter. I'm kind of amazed they offered anything at all. Think I should push a bit harder possibly. It would be difficult to prove they have actually caused losses which they undoubtedly have. Still haven't actually completed the transfer so will wait till that's done and dusted although on current rate of progress the 6 month expiry date of offer could easily be exceeded.
Raining now. Trying desperately hard not to buy anything at the moment, plenty of temptation but I think Covid could could yet cause a few more problems. In which case OCDO will probably bounce back. Funny that MKS has recovered so well now that OCDO is out of favour. Definitely want some silver but swayed more towards an ETF. Might as well wait for the Dow to open now

Morning all. Yes it was me that was having gear. change problems. We took it to another garage and the guy said he could do a temporary fix with cable ties till we can find a new part. He charged £30 was a lot cheaper than the £300 for non existent welding the other garbage charged.
T after checking through the transfers last night I noticed IWEB transferred some American stock I don't own, seemingly muddled up with a more profitable UK company I do own not showing in the PF! Its fricking endless the incompetence of this company. See we are following Biden in taxing big internet companies. Cant be just that hitting OCDO, they don't make a profit! Looking very tempting .

Afternoon all, just back from camper van trip to south coast. Forgot it was half term! Seems to do wonders for the portfolio , apart from Japanese trusts when you take a break. To my amazement iWeb have now transferred my shares, but not the money. Fortunately I had an idea it was going to be hassle so had withdrawn most of it, partly to enable me to trade with Jarvis. Hope everything is going well for you all.

Well quelle surprise. No phone calls from the abysmal IWEB as promised yesterday. Lovely day though. I don't know much about Japanese stock either! I know they say don't invest in things you don't understand but I'm hoping I'm investing in people who do understand. But they have clearly made great progress on rebuilding their economy in recent times having had decades of zero interest and flat economy. Most Japanese trusts have experienced Japanese nationals on the team and the momentum of exponential growth is expected to resume later in the year. There are concerns about high aged population, but if two of them can climb Everest twice in their eighties I think you get an idea of their drive, tenacity and longevity. I have mostly invested in UK companies over the years. I think in USA everybody is expecting at least a small correction. So Japan looks a very good alternative progressive exciting economy for the future. Have a great weekend everybody

Morning all. Good start to final day before Whitsun. Dow closed well and am going to have to blow my trumpet a bit the Nikkei currently up 2.2%. Asian Pacific seems perky all over today. Looks like sell in May is not going work this year, although its a bit some and some perhaps. It was kind of forced on me a bit by the IWEB saga. It was one way of getting some of stock out, selling to reshuffle and buying back in Jarvis account. Service manager and transfer manager are ringing me today apparently. Two rings and I'm through to Jarvis. Two hours and I get some total lying plonker at IWEB. Found an email to write to IWEB yesterday which it asked me to contact if I had any questions about my closed ISA account, like why has it not been transferred. I got an automated reply saying they couldn't answer any questions about client accounts. So the purpose of it is just another wind up? Have a good day!

lol. M lot of it is psychological. I thinks it a great place here to express thoughts, share views and strategies. I don't think and hope any of us could be accused of ramping or boasting. Always amuses me when the professionals say you shouldn't get emotional about investing. Thats fine if you are playing with other peoples money. If its your own its exciting, exhilarating, gut wrenching and depressing in no particular order depending how its going. You do need to set some rules and know when to back off, which is not easy. Am reading the Idle Investor by Edmund Shing at the moment. Here is a professional fund manager telling the truth about investing doos and donts. Keep it simple, be patient, don't bother with funds(which he laughs about being a fund manager). Basically I would say he is a law of averages investor, and doesn't try too hard to second guess the market. Some very useful insights. He does mention about holding bonds as a balance which are pretty crap at the moment anyway. Also he is used to investing millions if not billions. He does Amit that many of his colleagues are terrible at their own investments.

C. Just read your post sorry you have ceased trading but wise move to pay off debts. The markets will still be here for you to come back. I ceased trading for 5 or 6 years when my boys were going through uni. I simply wasn't making any money. Its a good time to stop if the markets go against you there is no point in battling especially where there are other priorities.Good luck and hope to chat again.
T. I know I'm guilty of overtrading. Just seeing how BT.a and MKS have recovered. There are a lot of stock in hospitality trading above where they were before the pandemic and many were in trouble then. They have hugely diluted their companies to rebuild and taken on substantial debt . Crazy valuations. I am following two investors I have a lot of respect for. One is a fund manager in Paris and the other is Jim Mellon. Both are big fans of Japans resurgence. COVID has blunted the recovery a little but I read an article how Ballin Gifford have been gearing up some trusts to take advantage of the lull. The only slight concern is the geological volatility! Been looking for a new direction for a while whilst retaining a small selection of uk small caps that I think will do well in coming years. Still hopeful for N4P I keep buying. Its risky but no more than NYCT and if they pull off the vaccination carrier that will be a pretty big deal and they could multi license to a lot of the big pharmas I hope.

I'm big in Japan now! in my Jarvis account today, hope the slide in their sp is nothing to do with that. Actually their COVID rates are twice as high as ours and we're opening up. Japan have a total of just over 12000 deaths, which is itself remarkable because they have an older population than us, only 4% vaccinated so far and are on their fourth spike.

Just had an update on the rules at Japans Within the Olympic Village, interactions between athletes will also be greatly restricted. The rules say no hugging, high-fives or sex, though confusingly, the organisers still plan to distribute 150,000 condoms. They have now vaccinated 4% of population and cases recorded are about 1000 per day. Isnt that lower than us and we're well on the way to to total vaccination? The other point is they have most far superior discipline and are used to wearing face coverings. I don't know why the Americans are so uptight about it. lets make it an American, Russian and Chinese free olympics.

As iWeb have now blocked my account but still not transferred it I can't trade from it anyway. The final trade I made the took payment for twice. It has now been refunded.Finally got through to speak to a human bean at 15.40 to complain about the weather etc. Unfortunately the team that deal with transfers knock off at 15.30. When I protested about the opening hours being 8-5 I was told they only take messages after 15.30. I said you do realise we are in the year 2021 not 1821.
Japan leaveing the decision on the Olympics up to the Olympic Committee. Should get a decision by Christmas. To be fair the Japanese have ramped up their vaccine program and have raced past the current total of 1% vaccinated.
I can't wait to add to my Japanese holdings but luckily am being forced to. Actually I think its a great time to buy Japanese trusts, bit of a gamble but their economy is still surging and likely to do more if they could just get on top of Covid before we see some of the slowest winning times ever recorded on the athletics track

Thanks T. Just received a letter from IWEB re transfer. "Our aim is to provide a smooth transfer which can take 6-8 weeks to complete. (its already taken 8 weeks to get this letter telling me its going to take 8 weeks!). I f you sell any of your holdings or buy any new ones during this time please let us know as it may delay the transfer. I don think they need any help in that department! Jeezzzzz

Morning Briggers. Just returned from a lovely wet and windy trip to Devon. No, not in a camper!. We booked a fab B&B recommended by the guitar workshop we went to visit. Brook Guitars have the most beautiful setting in the depths of the country side and played their guitars for about 3 hours. Their guitars are some of the best I have ever played and will be going down again when they say they will have a few more models closer to what we were looking for. The farmhouse we stayed at was delightful. Yet another retired farmer making more out of B& B but with a load of redundant buildings a field s basically to enjoy and make hey while the sun shines, which I guess it will eventually. We treated ourselves to a really good pub supper, our first visit to a pub in about 18 months we reckoned. Sadly it was pretty quiet apart from the bloody parrot. Would definitely stick him on the menu. Very funny for about 10 seconds, but a whole evening of squawking and 'who's a pretty boy then' is not going to entice us back how ever good the food is. Would have sat outside but it was freezing. So what's this got to do with stocks and shares? God only knows, but I'm certainly going to spend more time playing guitars than the markets over the summer. BW and GL

Yes S. Thanks to you and T. Brilliant idea. T I think you might be right about Dylan monetising his songwriting legacy, in which case he is a lot more in cash than me! Apart from selling billions of albums over sixty odd years every song he has ever written has been covered by hundreds if not thousands of different artists. Has even been the top selling artist in the USA for at 15 years of this century never mind the previous one, yet he is not even as wealthy as Michael Bimbalo apparently.

Morning all. T cant say I'm surprised about FTSE going negative. Probably going to be a bit directionless after China update disappoints. Little news this morning other than his Bobness turning 80 this week! 50% in cash now, me not Bob. As rich lists go I am surprised Dylan isn't a lot wealthier. Either he has been severely rifled by managers and record companies like Cohen , or he's been very generous to good causes anonymously, which wouldn't surprise me .
C hope you had a great innings and got a few wickets. I enjoyed taking up cricket again in Kent for a few years. Even had a few partnerships with my eldest son, notching up at least 5 between us before he inevitably ran me out!

Virolens is a Point of Care test and as such UK regulations require that any operator of the system is registered with UKAS as a Point of Care testing laboratory, a process that can take months to achieve and requires meeting certain ISO standards. Given this requirement we can't sell to anyone in the UK without this accreditation.
Yes C of all the shares to sell, that was pretty dumb of me to offload Beg. Will try and buy back at some stage. Not sure how I'm going to trade over the next few months, but I think its going to be a pretty jittery summer. Will the Japanese still hold the Olympics? If they do they should win everything cos nobody else looks like they are going!

After all that I should add my pf is actually down 1.5% from last week, but the potential is there while the overall risk is reduced I think/hope/pray in no particular order. oh and for god's sake don't ever open an IWEB account. I finally got to speak to someone who said 'would you like me to prioritise the transfer?' After 6 weeks waiting damn right I would. Probably means before Christmas.
