Good morning. Tennis over, football over and where has summer gone? I must say I am surprised at the lack of condemnation to the Italian captain Chielienni felling a young player half his age in such callous clumsy cynical way. In rugby play like that would result in a citation, red card and 5 match ban, but well done England. Just like some of my shares, some exciting moments and they did their best. Perhaps the Italians would be better suited to playing in South American tournaments, body checks, studding and scrag tackles. Not very good ambassadors for the game.
In complete contrast a graceful and talented rising Italian tennis player, Bertelli, emerged putting up a formidable fight against the old warrior Djokovic, playing at the top of his game showing what sport is all about.

Morning all. N seems to be a general lull in global activity, uk growth down from 2% to .08% in May. Lack of staff? Yet company reports have generally been showing strong recovery with few exceptions. Car sales apparently dipped after strong surge, house buying has dipped after strong surge. Going to be a meandering summer I would think. All vaccinated and opened up. Branson and Musk off to space for their summer vacation and buy a bit of cosmic estate while their up there probably.

Of all the indices I would have thought the UK's had the least reason to fall today, but it always seems to end up falling the most, and recovering the slowest. Very infuriating, but its always been this way.

I skipped through it a bit, but generally seems not as phased as some about inflation worries.

Some shares doing ok, some not so good. Seem to be stuck in a range of about 6% up and down for several months now. Its been a while since I made real progress. A question of patience again

On Mcro I read that profits were down 7% and the decline in revenue is still 4.5%. On the plus side they are confident to pay another dividend 8pish? As usual the fall looks overdone but the market is anything but logical. I have a company that announced 39% increase in revenue for H2 compared to last year and the sp tanked 20%. Intercede announced new contracts of about 0.6% this morning and the SP rose 15%!

Pretty mixed feelings about unlocking down. JDavid was out of the traps the moment he filled Haaanc ock's shoes. Firstly I think furlough has to come to an end. Its ridiculous that jobs can't be filled. There is no doubt that this system has been abused. There is no doubt it was necessary but the longer it goes on, the more it gets abused.
I think its great that the public are invited to use their common sense in regard to personal safety. It would be great if the least it has done is fractionally improved awareness of personal hygiene. The trouble is it only takes a small minority to wreck all the good done by the majority as is evident by recent research into cases directly attributed to the Euros.
Personally I know of far more cases of COVID than ever before. Mainly school children, teachers and HE students. In Australia the recent rise in COVID is thought to have been brought in by new arrivals and people in quarantine. The French are being as stupid and uncooperative as ever, wanting options on everything and committing to nothing. Romania and Israel have vaccines that are soon to go out of date and we are being asked to give up the autumn jab for countries that don't have any vaccine. Its all a bit of a muddle still. The NHS is exhausted and we now have to risk all to open up.
I think the answer is that the government has so confused itself that they just want to hand over the responsibility to the public so they don't have to take the flack any more.

Blimey S, are you sure you haven't got a hole in the tank? I was thinking with all your lovely cars why take a bus? We actually have a bus pass in Kent for over sixties. Unfortunately it never goes where I want it to and its often quicker on a bike anyway. I remember once in Cornwall getting the last bus back from the Minack theatre. The driver having enquired where we were camping dropped us off on his way home to the Lizard bless him.
Not been the greatest day for me on the markets. God knows whats up with MCRO. I have to confess I never actually got back in. I just noticed the update flagged up on one of my many alerts last week. Got a couple of my own problems without that though. Its getting a bit like pass the bomb at the moment. Just can't tell whats going to blow up in your face next, and thats with a bullish outlook on stocks!

Morning all. Currently on 26 holdings. 11 are are investment trusts of various sorts including reits and 7 Japanese investment trusts and 1 ETF. The theory about stock market moving up after Euro win doesn't seem to be working, although everything in my PF seems to up or stable bar 1 holding getting uncomfortably down with no explanation and results expected ahead of expectations.

I don't often watch footy but when Keane says 'this is the best sport on the planet', if only all football could conjure up that level of stunning exhilaration in all matches. The scoring patterns of the two games yesterday were also incredible, being identical in order of goals scored and the timings within minutes of each other. Common England something to live up to now.

Boris is very good at extracting himself from piles of manure and coming up with roses. I think his problem will be the future relationship with Rishi whose profile is rising daily. Javid also has the profile of an earnest selfless honourable man. They could make a very strong respectable team. There is no opposition. Starmer, after looking a potential saviour has disappointed so far, clearly struggling to get any cohesion in a team. The Liberal Dems are just hideous, Jeremy Thorpe, Nick Clegg ( as easily manipulated as Haaaaan**** and now employed in the evil Facebook empire). Cyril Smith the obese paedophile, Charles Kennedy I quite liked him when he was sober, sadly not long enough run a country, no charisma Vince Cable had is moment in privatising Royal Mail, but now embroiled in the Post Office debacle. Jo Swinsom, never really got close to being Prime Minster , now professor at top management school, how not to do it.
Consistently climbing out of vats of manure untarnished if a little crumpled is just so British. Apparently the city have had enough of placings and IPOs, hence some very heavily discounted placings recently as with Revolution Bars. Clearly Darktrace ended up being a bargain after several price props to get flotation away. This could mean value returning to any future Placing and IPOs. Global markets seem to steady this week. Many firms are coming up with good or ahead of expectation results whilst still being cautious on forecasts. I picked up with Boo again today, new holding in Supreme and added to AGFX a smaller version of AFXO.

Agree T. Seems to be stagnation across the board. I did have Kromek tearing up 13% today which was quite nice. Have made about 25% 3 times this year more by luck than judgement. Actually thats not quite true as there has been some predictability about their placings. They are another one trialing Covid detection in airports. Not quite sure what the idea is to be honest because its humans that need testing not the air. Have put that question to them.
Have obviously taken a lot of risk with cattle of the course of my life. I have heard dreadful cases of people being trampled to death recently. I was taught by the our local farmer to stand and face them if they charged, which worked quite well up to a point , although I do remember clearing a six foot hedge once when I saw 4 black bulls baring down on me!

How is it possibly for a company to be so utterly useless?

Morning Briggerdecians. Quite T re PF's. Probably well into the silly season now. Volumes low, football, pandemic vaguely under control but possibly not, people wondering whether to go anywhere or stay put, HMS navy bored so decided to stir up the Russian hornet Putin. Reminds me of the time I helped my brother move a herd of cows. They all eagerly went through into the next field with lush new grass except for this rather large bull. While pondering our next move , the little Jack Russel with us rushed up to the bull and bit it on the hind leg. The bull nonchalantly swung his head round unable to see the little irritation, slowly lumbered after the ladies rather unenthusiastically much to our relief.
The market focus now seems to have shifted onto conglomerates on asset value rather than potential to make profit. I can't see that supermarkets, making minuscule margins in a fiercely competitive arena make a compelling case for investment. Break up value apparently. They have certainly been closing stores and reducing size and numbers, but what will they do with their property, build more housing estates? On the other hand there are businesses out there with decent potential almost going unrecognised. Trouble is the market is a bit like the lumbering bull. Takes a while to recognise what's good for it

OMG T. you mean slobbered by an overfreindly drunken hairy Scotsman. I read a report yesterday that the British government backed the wrong horse investing billions in a Chinese Covid test now thought o be 75% inaccurate. That would be so true to form. My theory is having realised just how incompetent they have been they have even up anyway. We've got he vaccine, given it our best shot now we can't afford not to open up so we just have to get on with it come what may. As individuals we have the right to remain cautious and act accordingly in our own decisions about how much we want to open up, which is much easier and fortunate for us who are lucky to be retired or able to work from home. I see Australia and NZ are desperately clinging on to their low COVID count by strict clamp downs in the face of a poorly managed vaccine program just like Japan. I don't suppose after all the analysis there is going to be anyone proved right or coped with it in a better way, we just do what we do as best we can with what we have and muddle through.
