The. Italian when stanleyb tries to deramp any share it's normally good for the sp so I wouldn't bother with responding.

Share buy backs by Mr Goold or Kelso themselves, on a small illiquid share should ultimately be very good for the share price when the news is good.

Money_mad it shouldn't affect the price but more because the news broke on the Friday of a Bank Holiday weekend rather than it just being one bar / cookie.

The full stock line of that product, unsold yet or on shop shelves or in peoples fridges will have to be written off and refunds issued for those being recalled and returned. That'll be across all regions. People might also start to question the reliability of the other products.

Just watch in case this gets used as the next part excuse if @THG falls short on numbers and guidance. By the reaction of the share price since last update the market already doesn't think they are going to meet the numbers.

Must admit I wasn't expecting it to fall further today.

Share price near all time lows and up pops another calamity with a product recall and undermining confidence in the MyProtein brand and the product is one that's stocked in some of the big supermarkets. That'll be more stock written off and they will have to check all lines. Anyone affected or made unwell also gets the chance to sue as well.

Just at a time when you can walk into an Aldi store and shop online and find 3 pages of products all emblazoned up as Protein products with the protein content. As an example they have just started can selling their own 4 pack of Aldi Protein chicken kebabs in several flavours and for only £3.00, which is half the price of the MyProtein equivalent. Smaller kebabs but actually quite tasty. Unfortunately as their is no moat or very little intellectual property on food and drink then anyone can copy or do their own version.

Fortunately the news dropped on a Friday so any market impact might be negligible over the extended Bank Holiday weekend. Definitely one though to bear in mind come next update.

Just out of interest, and pre-AGM, I see John Goold has just upped his stake in Kelso again.

I think there has been a seller there in recent (MM or Monroe my guess), but the sells have been being picked up by John Goold, and Kelso have also stated they were going to initiate buyback of their own shares.

So will we see another No Confidence vote in one or more of the THG leadership emerge pre-AGM what with the share price now less than half what it was last year when Kelso challenged TGL, then you have had a Selkirk bid declined and an share price seriously struggling to attract in any new investors and just to add insult to injury, looking like it might be exiting the FTSE250 at next imminent review.

Imvho, I am honestly and genuinely struggling to think of any other company where such shocking share price performance has been delivered and everyone still stays in position.

It does seem a savage hit to the share price, all things considered.

I might wait to see what the analysts commentaries are.

I really can't see a placing at this price.

The Kumanis / BOO with such a significant shareholding would not be looking to dilute themselves into oblivion unless it was an absolute last resort. Maybe a white knight might appear and offer up money in a subscription, or more probably I think it is likely to be sold, lock stock to an industry player.

I think the prospect of a takeover is still very bubbling away in the background and always will at this price.

The last I saw was that the CEO of Shell seems interested but even though it is bargain priced he might be waiting for a further fall in the oil price so that they get it on the cheap. Whether that is just bluster ir not I don't know but I'd probably prefer it to be another Oil major.

Maybe so by market cap, but John Goold now holds more shares in Kelso than MM (whom I think is alighting) and their investment vehicle Selkirk had the balls to mount a bid for the full of THG Nutrition (believe it or not)

No doubt about it THG is the problem child of their portfolio and last year at a share price twice todays share price they publicly stated they would be voting against the Chairmans re-election.

What will their voting intentions be this year?

So that's them up well in NCC and doing well with Angling Direct, now the Works also on the turn and with a good holding in Selkirk Group also.

The only major disappointment, with an average holding @ 57.5p is THG where they are significantly down on their investment. Lets not forget all the sound advice that they preferred was either ignored or waited 2 years to happen (Premium listing) "My dogs got more shares" and notably it was just after they appeared @ THG that Apollo got tempted in, and according top OVMK offered somewhere in the region of 200p to 250p per share.

Today @THG - 25p and struggling and it looks like an FTSE250 exit is imminently on the cards and with that funds unable to hold should be alighting from some 70 Million shares (plus any they took up in the entry placing).

"Why would you want to own Ingenuity?"

You do know that just for the Eclectic hotels side of the group ALONE THG paid £39.9M and then there was an upgrade refurbishment plan for a further £10M of shareholders money. So roughly £50M.

Then on demerger dump the loss making one back onto THG Remainco with an impairment charge of £14.9M in the last update.

Then take the FULL of Ingenuity private for £25M, that's the profitable hotels and health club - and all the Distribution, robotics and logistics, THG Studios and CityAM, dump all the debt on Remainco, and whilst fully funding Ingenuity with THG raised placing monies to boot

Personally many did not wish to wait for a return on an illiquid off market stock via Ingenuity and also given any dilutory effects would supposedly be given back by the demerger plan, but I struggle to understand why the full of Ingenuity was actually allowed to be taken private in it's entirety for such a low value, especially after all the Capex spends on top. That's just my opinion.

Ryanf, I called the Selkirk bid and said at the prevailing share price they could go for it all, and low and behold they did. All in black and white and with full reasoning.

Anyways RevB seem to have picked up a head of steam this afternoon so you wonder if those with City sources have unveiled who it is who may have made an initial approach for REVB.

I personally think it would be a disaster but I would not rule out THG enquiring about REVB as it's a smaller play and could be funded out of existing monies.

I'm happy with it just stable as it is.

Buy backs would be nice though, but they are not an instant fix to the share price and have to be bought by an appointed broker and in such a way that they do not unduly influence the share price. It's longer term with shares bought back and cancelled that any further good news is met with the scarcity of a reduced level of stock.

In fact only half an hour ago you were suggesting MM might be the front seat driver @Kelso.

Stanleyb you have spent the last year rubbishing both Kelso and Selkirk, and especially in the case of Kelso littering the bulletin board with inane comment which most people just ignore and don't reply to.

Now suddenly you are quoting them.

But wouldn't you expect that type of post on THG off Kelso - given according to you MM is supposedly the back seat driver @ Kelso. To quote you from only yesterday

Whatever happens I just hope that existing shareholders get the opportunity to exit should they wish, and to salvage a decent chunk of their investments.
