Well, it hit my buy point yesterday so I took the plunge. Sunk further in the afternoon but I've never really been good at calling the bottom. Can't help feeling there's value here but I've been thinking that since 2008. I'm over the Omicron panic. If Javid is right (200k infections yesterday and doubling every 2 days or so) then we will all have it by new year and will be recovered two weeks into Jan. Yeh sure! Go horsey go.

I think we are all on the same page here. He has a track record of buying a controlling interest with debt and then moving this onto the business. Not aware he can do this with 18%. Maybe he just wants to collect his divi's and be ignored at the AGM like the rest of us? Yeh right! Making negative noises now makes any further stock purchase cheaper and he can't realistically say anything else until he shows his real hand. I worked for Cadbury when Kraft bought it out and the Gov where more or less ignored. Slightly different with BT but not an insurmountable problem and he wouldn't be holding 18% if he didn't think he could pull this off. If it's not him it will probably be somebody else. Today's drop is frustrating but I'm holding for now.

Thanks CC. I hope you are right. I'm a big supporter of the shallow wells and believe we should be backing our winners and drilling more of them. If we can move to 3-4000 BOPD with SY back on stream and a shallow well program then it's happy days and all round to FK's place for a party! This was where I thought we were going in 2020 before Covid. 153 should of course have been part of that growth but the lack of news might suggest it's a duffer. OK, so we put that behind us, shift the rig, and move on. We have been informed SY should be back on stream by year end so that may be the next piece of news but again I would have expected to see an RNS on the licence approval if we are going to hit that date. I'm not a supporter of the boat. CASP are an oil company and boat hire seems like a distraction. Again, hope I'm proved wrong. Sub 2000 BOPD is no better than 3-5p in my opinion so we need the management to deliver for us or there is no point being here, patient or not.

KK, I agree. Not enough definitive information as yet so the gaps get filled with speculation, if's, may's and could's. Meanwhile we get fed the picture the way some people want to paint it. I was happy to see the focus on booster's rather than restrictions at this stage especially as Delta is still running around 50K new cases a day in the UK. Politicians need to be careful. If this does turn out to be a mild illness that boosts heard immunity and trounces Delta then imposing draconian measures now is going to look like a knee jerk in a couple of months time. I'm finding it hard to spot the buying opportunities here. Falling knives and all that.

Thanks CC. I've been here since the Roxi days. In and out over the years but I still believe there is potential. What I want to see is steady continuous improvement. Covid and the likes are outside of CASP control and not everything will go the way we want but the trend needs to be upwards. I bought in again when we got the licence to sell at international prices and I think this is the only reason we still have a business following the trials and tribulations of the last couple of years. I thought Shin's appointment was a step in the right direction. Still do but yet to see the difference. I also bout more in 2019 when the plan for more shallows was offered up. Doh! Communication has always been "iffy" in my opinion. August RNS now starting to look like another damp sqib. Do I believe that they have learned from the work on the deeps to date? No, so not expecting anything wonderful at A8. Don't get me wrong I would turn cartwheels if we get a deep to flow but they have had more than 3 strikes with no runs on the board. They say that doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is a mark of madness. Just not sure if it's me or the CASP management that are suffering from this condition.

Brent mired in the mid 70's for the time being. Still feels like we are only one significant piece of news away from either recovery or another slump. Press and Gov seem focused on the negatives at the moment. One person dies WITH (not from) Omicron and it's being sold by the doom mongers as Armageddon. South Africa still saying this is a mild flu not a killer but nobody wants to accept this. Boris not too upset about the distraction this is creating. This time last week he looked down and out now he's strutting around talking Omicron up and Christmas parties down.

Well spotted JCB. "WITH" not from Omicron. There is also a lack of clarity on the hospitalisations. Are people in hospital with severe Omicron symptoms or are they hospitalised for other reasons and have contracted Omicron? South Africa still reporting mild symptoms even with their low vaccination levels so why should it be different in the UK? An older population here perhaps but SA is not devoid of older people. Boris needs this crisis to divert attention from other issues and to try and return to the days of him being seen leading the country through the worst of the pandemic. Good for ratings he thinks! Things have moved on since then though. We have vaccines and other symptom relieving drugs as well as a greater degree of heard immunity that might not stop us contracting the Omicron variant but should significantly reduce the impact. Good to see the focus on boosters rather than restrictions. That said this is going to run a while yet and Delta will remain a big threat for a while yet. Will it impact horsey? Yes, it already has, but the flat economy and the BOE not moving quickly enough to address inflation might be bigger risks but they don't make quite the same headlines. Will this nag ever get up and move us into the 50's/60's? I'd like to hope so but lordy its a frustrating wait.

I understand Clive's view that monthly reporting was hurting sentiment but quarterly reporting isn't exactly fixing that. The August RNS gave us a plan with some timelines. Failing to update us on timelines that have been and gone (153) and other news that was deemed immanent is poor. Those of us long on CASP have invested our money in the business and deserve to be treated like owners not mushrooms.

Good piece last night on Sky News about a South African township dealing with hundreds of new cases of Covid, mostly Omicron. While the numbers are high the symptoms have been mild. The locals don't even call it Covid, just "the flu". One man described the severity of his symptoms as 4 out of 10 and a local doctor says the symptoms are mild and very different from delta. So all good then? Well no, not yet, Brent and the markets are still nervous and there are still risks. We have a PM who desperately needs a crisis to take the focus off his failing leadership. The Pharma companies aren't going to object to making billions more out of another vaccine roll out and the press appear to be enjoying the interest the Omicron headlines are generating. The WHO have asked that the world doesn't panic about Omicron and believe that the existing vaccination program will remain a key tool in dealing with this variant and our ever pressurised NHS are trying to deliver this. I am anticipating some bumps in the road for a few weeks yet and who know if and when we will see another variant emerge. At the moment I am happy to see oil holding on above $70.

Can't help thinking that the Omicron scare is going to run for at least a couple of weeks yet. That said it's amazing how quickly the oil price is bouncing back. Go oil go!!! $80+ would be nice to see maintained through 2022.

The reasons for Plan B seem somewhat debatable. Sensible measures to protect the public and NHS from Omicron or distraction from the office parties debacle? For me Omicron needs to tick 3 boxes to represent real concern. Highly transmissible to make it the dominant variant..... Tick, Omicron rates of infection would suggest it will become the dominant variant within weeks. Ability to evade the present levels of heard immunity/vaccination........ The jury is still out on this following Pfizer's preliminary findings that 3 doses of their vaccine offers a similar level of protection against Omicron as 2 doses give for previous variants. They also say that they can have a more targeted Omicron vaccine available within 100 days. Finally, that severe symptoms could result in illness that would require significant numbers of hospitalisations and possibly death's......... So far there is no evidence that Omicron results in severe illness. It's early days but the evidence to date suggests this could be little more than a bad cold. If that pans out then Omicron could be more of an asset in the fight against Covid than a risk. I get the buying time argument but will plan B deliver a significant time window for a virus that is so transmissible? I doubt it. I, and many others, will have to WFH as the company wants us to do that. Think I'd rather have Omicron than another few months of "Teams" meetings and economic uncertainty.

A friend of mine is a Project Manager in the oil business. He says "the oil industry only wakes up when oil tops $80" He should know, his job depends on it. Political pressure for cheap oil is at best a short term fix. Sub $80 the big boys aren't investing much and the scenario discussed in this thread will happen. The overshoot could very well take oil to silly levels. Who knows? The reality is the world is hooked on oil and will remain so for a few decades yet. Electric vehicles just move the emissions (and the problems) from the exhaust to the power station. Nuclear is a potentially bigger problem than oil and will come under further pressure if and when there is another accident and renewable's are just not growing fast enough. All my opinion of course but that's why I'm still long on oil. Still nothing from Clive which is disappointing!

Hmmm difficult situation. The Opec+ meeting decided not to open the taps any further but the US piling pressure on. Agree with KK, $85 and I'm looking to add on the basis that CASP have cash to drill (shallows please) and Clive keeps dropping the D bomb. $70 all OK and I'm sitting tight, Sub $54 and the brown stuff starts flowing but it's not oil.

New to this board but not new to CASP so it's more of the same for me. Was hoping for news on SY or the boat contract but it looks like we will have to wait. I'm underwater on my CASP long but still believing. That said I suspect that if 153 of one of the deeps was flowing Clive would have shouted from the rooftops? Hey ho! or should that be Ho Ho Ho?
