J, I think you are right to say the results are largely priced in. What I'm hoping is that it will put some of the negativity to bed. As for other news, fingers crossed!

Financially I would rather have seen us pay off the debt with cash but the fact the family still want shares is a real positive. Can't remember how long this has been in the pipeline but it feels like ages. Timing is everything and Kuat is no mug. Time to top up I think.

Yep. Good news no question. Probably more game playing to come but the markets can now start to unwind the risk they have been pricing in around this. Putin has managed to make Johnson and Biden look like fools..... well let's face it they helped him in that respect. Nice to see us back in the blue.

KK, Yep. I think whatever happens Ukraine will be chucked under the bus. Just not sure who will be doing the chucking! Putin and NATO will claim they have won out. Germany will keep their gas. Johnson and Biden will be claiming the UK/US played a major roll in the diplomacy to try and boost their flagging reputations. And the markets will bounce as the risk is priced out. That's not necessarily a view shared with UK/US intelligence but then again they brought us WMD so why should we take them seriously. It's a very interesting situation.

Agreed. Oil in the $90's is great for Tullow. OK, we don't see the full benefit of the oil price increases but what sort of business would we be invested in if the price of our product goes up and we don't see benefit? Tullow SP flat as I type while most of the market is red. Roll on March 9th.

EG, This mornings retrace is not relevant to the company's fundamentals. The markets are panicking over Ukraine and Kaz is anything but immune from Russia's influence. Oil price is slightly down right now but still strong. I have no idea what Friday's gains were all about but if, as I believe, there will be no major invasion of Ukraine we could see the pricing in of this instability unwind. If you took your own advice and held then you could well see a return to Friday's close and beyond. I tend to buy and sell in and out but I held on this time and I'm comfortable with that call. I'm not a conspiracy theorist so I don't believe that Friday was the result of a leak but who knows when news will come or what the markets response will be when it does? This looks a better punt than cash at the moment but it's not without risk. That's investing..... Good luck.

P.S. I will have to eat an awful lot of humble pie if Ukraine is invaded!

Or there might be some news and we will be in the blue again? It's a lottery when you look at it day to day but unless the unrest kicks off again there's value here IMO.

Biden has been talking things up again today. Does he really think Russia will invade Ukraine or does he just want Putin to believe that the US thinks that? I suspect the Russian invasion video story was leaked by Russia to ramp up the pressure and it looks like US "Intelligence" actually believed it? Lavish Liz and Desperate Boris are running around like headless chickens so that they can claim that "This government helped lead the way to diplomacy" in a few weeks time. Pathetic!

I still don't believe Putin has any intentions of invading Ukraine. He's an opportunist not a fool. So what does he want? Nord Stream 2?, Legitimisation of the annexation of eastern Ukraine? To drive some wedges between the NATO members? He's keeping his cards close to his chest and he may well get most of what he really wants out of this yet.

So what happens to oil prices if, wonder of wonders, diplomacy wins out? I'm not sure, the fundamentals for oil are still strong so I don't figure on a collapse...... $80 - $85 anyone?

The results will be make or break for me after years of being invested here. Once the numbers shake out it would be nice to see a tempting invest-able forward P/E, a divi that looks more like it's aimed at rewarding investors rather than the least they think they can get away with as well as meaningful share buybacks. It would be nice to see some fresh ideas for investment/growth and a well worded commentary that tells us Lloyds are positive about their future. Come on Lloyds, keep up the earnings momentum and restore some investor confidence.

As CC says Clive seems to have realised that Marketing and Regulatory disclosures should not be one and the same thing. The point of this thread seems to be that we are now a profitable oil business but the market has not woken up to this yet? I would endorse that. So were should the SP be? Depends on present and future earnings for me. That said It's nice to be talking about the SP being based on fundamentals rather than hope. Money in the bank..... absolutely and long may it continue. How about a divi?

My limited understanding is that batteries can only store electrical power as DC but the induction process requires AC as you need the building and collapsing of a field to make devices like transformers work. Maybe they were both right.... sort of. What was wrong with Steam! Anyhow I think what we are saying is that AC or DC it needs to be generated using another form of energy. Also is it true that oil goes into something like 6000 other products? We've got another 50 years of this yet! Come on Clive, give us something to talk about.

TT. Do you watch Big Bang? Also you must know that Volvo's only run on pickled herring...... and petrol/diesel if herring is out of season of course! Maybe CASP could use the boat for a fishing trip?
