KK, agree that there is still not enough information coming out of Kaz to be sure about the situation on the ground there. That said, the information that has been released suggests that some sort of calm is returning and communications are coming back on line. The political infighting argument looks credible. Let's face it Tokayev was seen as a puppet before this kicked off. In the last week he has firmly stabbed his old boss in the back and sacked or arrested many of those still loyal to the old regime. Why? Well he may have some new mates? Favours from Putin come with strings and keeping Tokayev in power will come at a cost to Kazakhstan. There is no "back to normal" scenario here. It's more about how different will it be? 40% of the worlds Uranium and all that oil make Kazakhstan attractive for the power mongers of all nations. Foreign policy will be increasingly important going forward and we may see some key changes. Be interesting to see if Chevron & partners go ahead with the investment. If it was me I'd hold off till things become clearer. As you have said it would be nice to see an RNS on resumption of CASP operations. I would hope to see that relatively soon but the oil worker situation and the logistics of transportation are not clear to me at the moment. I keep going on about CASP cracking on and making money now. Looking ahead 5 or 10 years looked OK after 30 years of relative stability but now it's about banking some money while they can. I'm glad that we have our own Oligarch. Let's hope he's got the right mates!
