It is a real shame we can't find someone Georgian to not only translate the interviews but also give us some idea of how much of the media is Government run and how much is truly free.

Earsbern: not sure Zaza's TV interviews are "high profile". The impression I get is that may be on channels with few viewers as maybe a lot of the media is state controlled. Would be good to know whether that is actually the case or not?

Having re-read Zaza's statement from yesterday, I felt more positive than I have done for a while and I think it was because he used the word "shareholders" twice. It suggests to me that he may not have forgotten us. I guess the extrapolation is somewhat remote but there you go :).

What a share this is! The supper sleuths spend their days finding the articles then the rest of us dissect and analyse the words in forensic detail trying to find hidden meanings. Even in the good old days of RNSs we always seemed to end up with more questions than answers.

Arsenal: why would they drop revoking the license? That gives them everything and they claim they have that right? Zaza has already confirmed he will be handing back the 99%.

If they'd had money they'd certainly spent it by November or else presumably they would have paid the employees something to keep them at work. Zaza was not happy that the employees ended up downing tools when he had been trying to persuade them to be patient just a tad longer.

Tsbs: under their duty as auditors they should have, so I think it is unlikely that they didn't, but not impossible.

PJOHN: Looed generally posts links to news articles that he bothers to find and kindly share with us. His inclination is generally to post more rather than less and so some of the articles he finds are more relevant than others; which he helpfully tends to point out.
It is beyond me how anyone could take issue with what Looed is doing. You may disagree with his opinions, in which case just write explaining why and he will doubtless listen and debate as he feels fit.
It would be a loss to us all if people like you succeed in hounding him off here.

R8: thanks for reverting. We seem to have our own opinions on the importance or otherwise of this note in the accounts, but good to have a reasoned debate on the matter. I hadn't appreciated the significance of Zaza's insistence on a live TV interview until you helpfully spelled it out.

R8: KPMG did not state any of that. It was all the words of GOGC. KPMG state an opinion (earlier in the statutory accounts) on the figures and notes in the accounts. To do so KPMG will have done a load of audit work and part of that should have included reviewing the arbitration result to ensure that the GOGC comment was not a material misstatement. The arbitration panel rules will permit auditor scrutiny, but clearly publication requires the consent of both GOGC and FRR.
So this is independent confirmation by a big four accountancy firm which many businesses worldwide decide to appoint as their auditors and which their shareholders approve.
This means a hell of a lot more than an unregulated interview on TV. However, we can hope that KPMG staff did not pay a great deal of attention to the arbitration document, or misread it. Either is possible but if anyone was gambling on whose interpretation of the arbitration outcome was the most likely based on the evidence then we are backing the rank outsider I'm afraid.

KPMG will have looked at the arbitration award and checked that there was nothing in the accounts note that was factually incorrect or materially misleading. So, imo, this is an endorsement of the GOGC stated position. It is also fundamentally an independent one although it is true that auditors will often bend to the will of their client, albeit not to a material degree.
Having said that, auditors do make mistakes in their work ... I seem to recall that PW didn't exactly ensure all relevant matters were revealed in our accounts ...
