Thanks Newbie. I have a CWU WhatsApp message from my area rep saying that the 2.7% element is due on 19th of February for weekly paid employees and 26th of February for monthly paid employees.

Rodders, the 2.7% back pay will be in the 19th of February pay packet. The 1% will be from 1st of April which is Easter weekend so it should be in the 9th of April pay packet. The SWW will be dependant upon your unit but no later than 1st of October however if your representative gets his finger out it could be much sooner.
Given the level of potential end of financial year profit being touted around I would expect the pay increase in 2022 to be much bigger. If that turns out to be true then there's no way that the business can say that they cannot afford it.
Roll on 2022!

Ned, as a shareholder, may I suggest that you start earlier and finish later plus skip your meal relief.....oh and try running your walk too as that might help you with clearing the backlog.......lol

The sentence that states "If we continue in this direction, we could now be better than break even by the end of the financial year".
Better than break even? Given the current trading situation that has been gifted to RM then if we are not showing a healthy profit come May then I don't know when it will happen!

Busiest quarter for parcels in Royal Mail’s history
We have issued a Trading Update covering our performance in the nine months ended December 2020. See below for the headlines for the first nine months, compared to the same period last year:

Parcel volumes grew by 31%
Addressed letter volumes (excluding elections) declined by 23%
This has helped us to deliver 9.3% growth in revenue (that’s the money we make, not profit). This is the highest revenue growth since privatisation in 2013.
CEO Simon Thompson comments that now is the time to reflect on the herculean effort the business has made, but we still have a lot more work to do.

‘The growth in revenue is, of course, good news. If we continue in this direction, we could now be better than break even by the end of the financial year. You may remember it is only six months ago we were expecting the UK business to be materially loss-making.

I have just received a WhatsApp from RMG to say that the Q9 RNS has just been released. "Busiest quarter in parcels for RMG" so no surprises there.

What a difference a year makes!
This time last year our CEO was pleading that there was nothing in the pot for the business to be able to give it's staff a pay rise and now there is talk of a £500m+ profit?

RMG have published good quarterly results in the past and the SP has actually dropped. Similarly RM posted a massive loss in the last results and the SP increased so we know that quarterly financials don't drive this.

It's a pity that you weren't saying that in November 2019 when we were balloted for IA after Herr Back wanted to undermine the Ts&Cs of the RM postal workers?
Some even tried to blame the CWU for the falling SP even though it had been on the decline for several months prior to that.

mike1974, don't forget that this project was in the planning phase at the start of Rico's tenure and may have already been in the pipeline towards the end of Moya's so it will have been more than 2 years. Historically this is swift by RM standards as the planners always like to "measure half a dozen times before they start" but I get your point.

So if a broker upgrades (or downgrades) a stock, do they usually have an end date that they expect their target price to reach? Also could this be used as a tool for ramping/deramping? Just curious.

What do these brokers base their recommendations on?
Do they have some inside information or is it purely speculation?

You may be correct there and I would expect to see another surge next week after payday however there needs to be an incentive to get those who are saving heavily as a result of working from home and not going out to work, (buying fuel, coffee at Costa, lunch at Gregg's, dining out, down the pub, going on holiday) to start spending as well.
