BomberHarris, you are spot on with your assessment. We have many employees that have previously been employed at a much higher level and are highly educated quite often to degree level, but for whatever reason life has thrown them a curve ball and they now want a stress free job. Only Royal Mail could offer employment in to such a diverse range of employees and this is something to celebrate.
Going forward the BoD will need to have an excellent plan. Get it right and RMG will be unbeatable.
Get it wrong and the business will flounder.

Unfortunately, the culture of treating RMG as though it is/was a government agency with endless funds didn't end when it was privatised. Far from it. There was a project called World Class Mail that must have cost hundreds of millions of pounds per annum, at its peak in 2015. The CWU requested a cost figure in 2012, pre privatisation, but by the time the Freedom of Information request was processed, the business was sold off and therefore didn't have to answer the request.
I would suggest that the RM BoD are not particularly interested in what happens to the SP as that is up to the investors and will continue on with their business plan regardless.

I had originally thought that £5.50 would be a good point to start buying back but it has reached sub £5.50 a little quicker than I had imagined so I will revise down to £5.30 for now but if it keeps dropping at the current rate it will be sub £5.00 before the end of August which would be quite concerning.

Mike, that's exactly what I mean. If BoJo's easing of restrictions means that shoppers go back to the high street and post less parcels then the next financial report would show a downturn and potentially affect sentiment and possibly share price. If we then enter the autumn with another Coronavirus variant and/or spike followed by another lockdown then parcel volumes will rise again?
Obviously this is just my prediction and may not even happen.

mike1974, I sold a decent amount at £5.87 and took a nice little profit, so £5.95 was a good call. It's your money but I am waiting for a drop to at least £5.50 before I even think about reinvestment of my profit as I think that the way that the Government handles the pandemic could cause the business plan and also investor sentiment to go either way with dramatic effect.

If my memory serves me correctly, didn't Rico secure a loan of £1.8bn over 5 years back in 2018/19 to cover "business transformation" costs?
It all went a bit quiet following the Coronavirus outbreak in March 2020 and then RM posted a large profit so was the loan repaid early?

There are a hardcore five to ten percent of full timers that do regular overtime in my mail centre. This agreement will mainly benefit the part time workers that regularly do a 38 hour week but aren't recognised as full time and therefore don't reap the benefits of full time working such as annual leave entitlement. The tide is changing now as more of our part time workers are being offered full time contracts which should benefit both employees and employer.

I don't think that it will harm Amazon at all. All those unsold copies of the Dunfermline Times that carry this story will probably become fish and chip wrappings during the Glasgow climate summit.

It looks like the CWU have reached an agreement with RM over "average holiday pay" with back pay going back two years. The biggest winners will be part time employees who have racked up extra hours each week, in some cases working more hours than full time employees. I know that in my mail centre there are quite a few part timers who always appear ever present with many doing over 48 hours each week for weeks on end.
It will be interesting to see how much this is going to cost RM or if it is going to affect the SP, it may be priced in already.

Any ideas for the drop in price this week? The news from Thompson and Pullinger seems very positive at the moment and the parcels project for 2021/22 has been confirmed and going forward.

Pat, I assume that you are not being asked to work 45 minutes overtime a day so surely if you go out 45 minutes earlier then you will finish 45 minutes earlier?
