I sold the last of my shares in mid June at £5.91 as I had a feeling that the price would drop by more than 10p before the dividend payment cut off. My original selling point was £6.00 but I missed that by 24 hours as I needed an Equiniti password reset. Doh...

I like Dynamo's enthusiasm for "bumper profits on the way" but personally I just can't see it as our staff overheads are still massive.

Tony, Vesa had a 5 month window when the SP was sub £2 last summer so I don't think that is their objective. It seems a little odd buying another half a percent of shares at these prices thought?

Tony, if Vesa were going to try to acquire a 30% holding them surely they would have done this last summer as there was a 5 month window when the SP was sub £2?
I'm not sure what they are up to but they obviously have a plan.

Far be it for me to contradict "The Fool" but one of our large parcel offices in the south, which is in the process of doubling it's parcel automation capacity, is now posting a downturn of 750,000 parcels a day to the forecast figure.
Thankfully, Christmas is just around the corner...lol

Dynamo, your comments about reducing staff to the core ring true with me. Our office is small and staffing levels are at their lowest ever. We don't usually have much sick absence but over the last couple of months we have lost up to 40% on some shifts mainly due to the pingdemic but also due to other absence as a hidden consequence of not being able to see a GP and failure to get s diagnosis on a health condition.
This will come back to bite us harder than another Covid wave.

Mike, I watched my local Amazon hub being built. Once the ground was cleared and the base laid (about 10 weeks) it took 26 weeks to build the shed, install the machinery (some fairly basic conveyor systems), lay the one way system for their vans and arrange for the highways department to connect them to the main road.
Obviously there would have been planning in advance but I doubt that it took more than 15 to 18 months from being an idea to completion.

Mike, don't pin your hopes on a five day USO anytime soon as this will need an Act of Parliament to be approved and we all know how long it takes Parliament to do anything.
Personally, I believe that RM need to be go the other way and offer a seven day service although this would make a five day USO irrelevant.

DrV, I don't hold with the forecasts that this share will achieve £8 to £10 anytime soon. Sure mail volumes are still reasonable (but no longer off the scale as previously) especially given that we are in what would traditionally be a quiet period but unless we go into an autumn lockdown, life will start to resume some normality and mail volumes will stabilise which I would hope will stabilise the SP at current prices.

Henky, the maximum number of SIP shares issued to staff was 913 and this was done over 3 years so you must have purchased extra at some stage.

Henky, when you took VR in 2015 you would have been given your SIP shares as a cash value in your severance package and these shares would have gone back into the pot (alongside the other surrendered SIP shares) to be shared out amongst the workforce (to which we all received an extra 81 shares).
I assume that the 1300 shares that you hold have been purchased separately through shareview so all you need to do is to log in or create an account and just follow the instructions.

No short interest.....for now (and hopefully never again).

Redceo, I totally agree. I joined this forum as both an employee and investor, hoping to learn more about what drives this share, however after three years I am none the wiser really. Sure there have been some insightful investors that have studied the charts but they rarely coincide with what I see before me in my office on a daily basis.
Incidentally, Simon Thompson and the CWU collaborated on an internal survey called the "Big Trust Survey" earlier this year. It looks like ST believes that a happy workforce is a productive workforce so the survey included a mix of questions regarding both local management and national management. The results were fairly predictable but interestingly enough it seems that the manager bonus is now linked to the survey results.

blockfire, one of the annoying things about Royal Mail is that it is classed as a "communication" business but one area where it fails badly is communicating with it's employees.
Rico Back definitely wanted to cut all communication between management and workers but it seems that Simon Thompson is trying to rebuild some of the bridges..
