Good news but it could and should have been better?
The Quality of Service results that were reported to OFCOM for the second quarter up to 26/9/2021 revealed that RM delivered 82.4% of 1st class mail (target was 93%) and we are now leading into our busiest period.
Perhaps this is holding the SP back from going to 600p?

Alas_Smith, I broadly agree with your statement, however there is a line that states "An advantage that RMG has is that it can draw on staff from neighbouring regions to cope with any containment", which is more theoretical than factual as offices are far too concerned with their own staffing issues to be able to let their staff go swanning off to help out elsewhere. Chelmsford Delivery Office is the current point in focus but there have been others and there will be more.
Christmas Pressure will be the usual ©lu$t€rfu¢k but fortunately we may still get away with the Covid/driver shortage excuse to avoid any fines.

ironknut, I don't understand, why should the shareholders benefit when the customer is not getting the correct service? Am I missing some irony in your statement?

Teamlh, as far as I am aware, the last time that there was a national strike by RM employees was in 1971. Sure, we have balloted for industrial action since but only as a blunt instrument to aid negotiations.
Local strike action has also been taken but usually in order to highlight wrongdoing by local management.

Teamlh, just to put you in the picture regarding Royal Mail pensions.
There are three separate pension schemes.
The original scheme is the Government funded final salary scheme that ran until 31st of March 2012. Both employees and the Government paid in but in the '80s and '90s the Government of the day (mostly Conservative) chose to take a "payment holiday"...... for about 20 years, so when Cameron's Government decided to sell RMG off they realised that nobody was going to buy shares because of the massive black hole in the pension fund so they agreed to cover the pension fund, which as far as I am concerned is fantastic.
The second scheme isn't quite as good but works to the principle that the employee pays in 6% and RMG pays in 10%. This scheme was originally planned to last 6 years from 2012 until 2018.
The third scheme is a combined defined scheme as used in The Netherlands and Norway and required an Act of Parliament for approval.
As far as I am aware, RMG have no legal right to "do a Maxwell" and dip into any of the pension funds as they are not entitled to.

AngerSharkz, I agree that the fundamentals of RMG look very good and if you were selling RM on Dragon's Den then you would have an instant winner, however for some inexplicable reason, the SP always seems to get bogged down. I no longer hold RMG (although I may buy back in again) and as an employee, I would like to see the SP representative of how the public view us and a barometer of the value for money that we offer. In my opinion this should be at least 600p a share and if we can cut down on a few of our known inefficiencies potentially 800p a share.
Unfortunately the big movers and shakers are running the show so you may as well stick your dosh on the 2:30 at Haydock Park?

Yes please and hopefully with the huge profits anticipated in the very near future as our existing fleet is now on it's knees with many "small wheels" vans being in excess of ten years old and now in a lovely pink patina.

Well Ponty, seeing as you were charitable enough to go to work instead of taking your annual leave and spending time with your family, thus saving RMG around £500+ a week (as you would have been paid for not going to work) I thought that you may go the extra mile by not booking overtime for the long hours worked, for the greater good of Royal Mail's profit margin. Perhaps all of those elderly and vulnerable people that you were providing a lifeline to would be less impressed that you were doing it for the extra wedge?

Ponty, I haven't assumed anything. All I have done is copied and pasted your comment verbatim, which included the line "working all our days off, including annual leave" which would leave me to believe that you worked six days a week and through your pre-booked annual leave. So did you get to book any annual leave over course of the financial year?
Not that any of the above really matters as this is a share forum and not a Ponty forum...

Ponty, "some of us including myself, working all our days off, including annual leave for that year". Are you sure? So how much annual leave did your DOM allow you to carry over? We were told that we could only carry one week - use it or lose it plus our manager said that he had to enforce the work time directive so we didn't work on our off days.

Red, although the stock market only looks forward (better get that disclaimer out of the way) it smacks of manipulation which will come as no surprise to the long term holders on this forum.
I think that this stock may come good again..... eventually but for now I am still holding a watching position whilst waiting for some upbeat RMG news and have been looking/dabbling with other opportunities.

With regards to the earlier posts from JB and Postman007, hopefully the new Signing In Signing Out system will ensure that the correct hours are worked and that walks are carried out more safety without the need to rush around, however there will always be employees that find a way around the system.
Royal Mail is one of the largest employers in the UK and there are bound to be inefficiencies in the system whether it is inaccurate payroll accounting, not cancelling redundant contracts or incorrectly billing our business customers of which I could cite several cases running into several millions a year, past and present, however despite all this I am still of the opinion that even if it was all resolved tomorrow, the share price would be exactly the same.
