I attended a CWU Zoom call this morning and the pay deal was briefly discussed but no new positive updates have been mentioned since last week.
Rumour has it that Stuart Simpson is going for an 'Australian' style deal?

It's been getting worse every day since Tuesday. A large mail centre very close to Wales now has such a log jam of articulated vehicles that they are diverting them wherever they can along the M4 and M5 corridor. My mail centre now has an extra 12 hours work on top of our own workload and this looks set to continue right up to Christmas. Hopefully RM will not incur any penalties for this due to extenuating circumstances but if RM can't turn a profit on this then they never will.
I am now thinking of buying back in on the short term if there is a dip. Hopefully the market will be looking at volumes to drive the price up and worry about the fall out in January.

In my experience, customer reviews and dissatisfaction do not affect the share price in the slightest. Just take a look at the reviews of SSE on trustpilot (88% negative reviews out of 1559) and plot this against the share price.
Bad reviews are fairly meaningless when large companies are involved. It also works for individuals as proven by our prime minister. Water off a duck's back.

In theory, the SWW would mean that RM would need to take on more staff in order to cover the hours thus giving the CWU the extra possibly of more members and more revenue?

Talk2Much, why would we have to expect a CWU backlash? Surely there would only be "inevitable job losses" if the USO was charged to a five day service and RM stuck rigidly to the five day USO on parcels but we all know that RM will have to offer a seven day service on parcels to keep abreast of the competition so ultimately this would mean more delivery staff are required and not less? I would expect that RM will need to increase the delivery workforce by approximately 16.67% to offer a seven day parcel service which would surely please the CWU.

Eastside, I couldn't agree more although it would appear that some investors think that RM will lose around 16% of the wage bill by moving to a 5 day letters service however this will only work if RM continue to maintain a strict 5 day parcel service also (as per the USO) but in order to keep up with the competition we will need to offer a 7 day parcel service which is going to cost extra so the staff wage savings will be wiped out. Tough decisions ahead for RMG senior managers but in reality they will be forced down the only path that makes economic sense.

HHIAN2, are advocating a 5 day service for letters and parcels or just letters?

usacpc, the parcels side of the business will be profitable once the parcels automation capacity picks up and coronavirus is behind us plus the fleet will also need to be reconfigured as well in order to handle the extra capacity (and quite possibly be electric in certain cities). This is all going to take time and investment so I am going to predict around mid 2022 before we see the plan bear decent fruit.

This stock has taken 24 months to recover to its present level but the time has flown by.

usacpc, if you have time to read the latest half yearly report on the RNS tab it should give you all the information that you need.
The bottom line is that letter volumes were down significantly, parcel volumes increased significantly and RMG still managed to lose £129m in the first six months of the 2020/21 financial year so go figure?

I have just received a WhatsApp message from the CWU.
RM and the CWU have run out of time this week but it is hoped that the negotiations will conclude next week.
Hopefully this will have a positive effect on the SP?
