Been watching this for a fair while. Not too small and will have to appoint new boss soon which could increase visibility. Has come a long way since U.K Coal and happens to be in the right place (i.e not London) for attracting business, Its not going to 'shoot out the lights' but there could be scope for steady progress and reasonable divi growth in the 1-3 year term. I may tuck a few away next week.

Blue Earth is gonna gush over next two years and someone is bound to tip this because it really isn't in the price. The portfolio has many other cos of interest and it is reasonable to trust Welcome to have at least one other winner in there.

Hope I;m not too late. Been watching one of WJG devs in Bournemouth where I live. Awesome so I'm in. Would not be surprised by either a move to main board or cheeky bid in next 12mths.

Re-examined at this level and stuck in a limit buy order. Seems sensible. Hope I get them and the sellers don't know something we don't!

Thanks for yours, My understanding is that Wellcome took the holding as payment for their portfolio. The presentation was very good. Blue Earth is going rather well and my hope is that given time Syncona could be a very successful investment as well as doing a lot of good. SP moving nicely even at this early stage, Whu knows what a bit of a write-up could do?

It seems I am alone but more bought than sold today and one buyer for 50000 so maybe this is finding a bottom. Still surprised the FT article on manganese and lithium batteries has not aroused more interest.

8th May statement not shown enough uptick and now we are back in doldrums. Also deliberately more dependant on dollar earnings which is fine until balloon bursts over there! Like much else I hold this leaves me up but uncomfortable. I have made a pact with myself to cash in 25% of portfolio before the Election. I just hope US doesn't go pop before then.

Now AZN has got lung cancer sorted, perhaps we should all be piling into BATs again!!!

Good old Monsieur Soriot! If this is just the beginning of the change of direction he is trying to execute for AZ, then the sky's the limit and big fat divi is assured. Still does not make up for the rubbish news yesterday on Vectura but it sure helps.

You can never count on success with FDA. Think its secretly run by Edgar J Hoover! I don't see VEC going above 150p in the 12 month horizon, so its just a case of when to cash what's left of the chips and move on. They did mention in the last AR that they were thinking about a way round the huge amortisation write down so that they could pay a dividend but I don't think that will turn this from a sell to a hold. Anyone out there persuading me to change my mind?

No post here since Feb so thought would liven it up. Welcome Trust now own 35% presumably for giving the co its seven portfolio holdings. They are just about the smartest guys in the field of med research so I have got in. Like the idea of doing a bit of good and this co gives 0,3% of its net asset value each year to cancer charities. It might not find a blockbuster but I would not be at all surprised if one of its investee cos does just that. In the meantime this gives me a warm feeling!

Seems like I bought this at wrong time but will try to sweat it through. Mines are all big losers right now. Pray for a change!

Not much chat here and can see why. I hold some for last few years. Large spread so can rarely sell at profit. Only hold for dividends and the worry is that a downturn will leave them with unlettable stuff. Bassi has used borrowings to boost up the portfolio but 37% is a bit high for subprime and since he aims to keep increasing the payout, where will the cash come from to reduce borrowings? Only from sales at profit. On the other hand interest rates are low and Mr B is well connected. I am holding but with suspicion! The trouble is a lot of others are also and the price could fall out of bed when a big boy cashes his chips! Hmmm...

Read 'Adventurous Investor' in this weekend FT (mandatory reading), He was writing about lithium batteries and their future. Which shares will benefit. These got a mention but others were reckoned to gain more. Checked them all out and not happy. Don't fancy trusting that dodgy outfit Glencore. This looks interesting even if I have missed a good bit of upside. Manganese is also essential for steelmaking and with luck they are in a big financial turnaround. Also keen on their boring alumina - where there's muck there's money! Finally one or two brokers have turned from neg to pos recently, so this is now a rare single co investment for me.

Very interesting stock but directors making steamy quick profits at this level if they sell some. I may miss this boat but I'm watching from dry land for now

This is a quality pharma with a beefy divi and lots of RNS coming soon. It only needs one new drug turning from research into reality for this sp to motor. There is also still the outside chance of another bid using a stronger currency than Sterling. You have to be pretty churlish to sell AZN now!
