RE: Financial Results16 Jun 2020 23:35
The unaudited financials are already known for the last couple of months and will only be beefed up with a greater breakdown. If they follow the format of the last couple of years financial results generally we will only be supplied an opaque outlook statement as part of the formal set of results. The hope from LTHs who have invested many years here is that following the CE-IVD accreditation for the Clarigene SARS-CoV-2 COVID-19 test a trading update is supplied in addition with revised brokers research notes and rating.
YourGene, should they deliver their in-house test, would have a superior product to the Novacyt test which should at least qualify them for state reimbursement in France and other European countries. Though this will be at a reduced margin there will be more volume. It is expected that this CE marking will also support regulatory applications in other jurisdictions, such as Emergency Use Authorisation with the USA FDA and Emergency Use Assessment and Listing with the WHO. How this would impact their relationship with Illumina and TMO who both have their own COVID tests who knows.
What will be more interesting is how YourGene's test fares against Gendrive's antigen PCR test. Genedrive’s point-of-care instrument-based test should be ready in December and will allow enable decentralised testing outside of the main hospital environment in places such as clinics, intensive care units etc. Interestingly enough Walbrooke do the PR for them as well.
I am disappointed Illumina hasn't released a press statement yet on the Iona Nx NIPT Workflow as this was developed to run on Illumina's NextSeq 550Dx next-generation sequencing platform however I suspect this was to be expected as this impairs Illumina's VerifiSeq sales. The reduced need for instrumentation capital expenditure I suspect refers to the DNA preparation part of the workflow however we are still awaiting details on how this . We are also awaiting details on how the IONA Nx NIPT Workflow ("IONA® Nx") differs from the current IONA test and Illumina VerifiSeq test in terms of Sensitivity (Detection or True Positive Rate), False Negative Rate (FNR), Specificity (True Negative Rate) and False Positive Rate (FPR).
For the size of your stated holding the daily funding charge to finance your IG spread bet for the next 12 to 18 months will be very expensive if that is your time horizon compared to holding an ordinary share. I know ETX and SpreadEx had placed limits on how much one can buy YGEN so it is interesting IG hasn't.
