I suppose there is an argument to say with this deal it makes the structure of Atlantic and Ewoyaa simpler and that another bidder could come in still for Atlantic lithium and the Chinese still have the offtake that Elevra was going to be entitled to..they also now have a 4.1 % stake in Atlantic..this deal is also some way off as many regulatory hurdles to jump
RE: Some more dumb questions and a few answers.10 May 2026 23:21
A few points Kmbxxx ..Atlantic are the weakest link in the jv ..do you mean with Elevra as it would appear that Elevra are not prepared to put up the funds they signed up to which would put their interest earned to date in a precarious position so they are probably as weak as each other.
I am not exactly sure about your concern about Ghana being invested and they have actually invested a small amount at the outset but of course they will be the winners come what may with their free carry , royalties and tax plus although not guaranteed local employment..the Chinese do like using their own.
I doubt it would look good for Ghana on the world stage when they have openly said they need to invite foreign companies in to invest and mine and that they have a fair fiscal regime ..it would not look good if they were to thwart that process.
i agree about the bidding situation..it would defy belief that there would not be many other interested parties and yes indeed assore are in the best position if they were to counter..i still think han**** prospecting led by gina rinehart is a possibility..they have been very aggressive in taking stakes and buying out companies in the lithium and rare earth minerals space..indeed i think there are at least 4 asx companies where they have taken positions
RE: Other offtakers that Atlantic Lithium had lined up8 May 2026 10:04
It is worth remembering that NH said that that the offtake deal Atlantic had lined up for only half of our entitlement would hopefully get us circa 90 million ( presumably dollars )
I am not saying they would not but at the moment the starting point is just above the 150 mil and with their holding would be favourite especially if they decided to go hostile but the previous offers which incidentally were not considered serious enough to put to shareholders is not binding on them for any future bid
I pretty much agree with all you have said but Elevra have now found out the fine line they were walking and could now find themselves flushed out completely
Lol it did not happen with Solgold and that was in his backyard and just after the Whitehouse had come out and said the Chinese would not be taking any more rare earth minerals from the U.S !!
RE: Will be interesting to see where it closes and what shakes out next week.7 May 2026 18:54
I think the discussions with Elevra probably finished sometime ago as the negotiations with the Chinese would certainly have been going on for sometime..my guess is Elevra are out of the frame , Ghana want to get the project moving and Atlantic want to salvage something with the possibility of something more than what is currently on offer ..time will tell !
In my experience the price always seems to fall short of the actual bid price until the deal is nearly done..also if the market is not convinced of the outcome the price can also be underwhelming..I mentioned the case of Noront a couple of times and it took a long time for the sp to get going but when it did it really got going !
At best I would say Elevra will get diluted as a minority stakeholder by the Chinese and at worst removed..is this all part of a plan to squeeze the price up and Atlantic have decided not to engage with Elevra anymore..that moment has now passed and they are playing hardball to get the best price for shareholders
RE: If we know it's a low ball offer, so will the prospective counter bidders!7 May 2026 10:53
Completely agree jack .. a few things to note ..I am surprised that Miif deal not announced as soon as the license was ratified but that is a moot point now..
Interesting to note that when Solgold announced their takeover the BOD also recommended the offer plus announced that all major shareholders and named them would also accept..Interesting to note that Elevra were not mentioned.
At the end of the day the main crux of this is financing the build and there are plenty of parties out there that could do that comfortably..the big question is will this draw them in ?
With the Solgold offer another Chinese company ( no surprise there ) did offer a sweetner of another 2p on their original bid but there was no one else in the frame .
Just another point of hope ..take a look at Noront takeover..you never know it could happen here..I mean I am not going to go back and work it out since the Ironridge days but how much has been expended thus far to get to a shovel ready hard rock lithium deposit with massive potential to grow and all the other benefits in favour of the project ..we must have spent at least 50 million
Also hopefully the farmers in the short term get their compensation whilst this plays out
RE: The best deal Since RICCA...NEIL, AMANDA AND KEITH YOU ARE A DISGRACE7 May 2026 06:22
Well was not expecting a price as low as that..have just had a similar experience with Solgold where a takeover was anticipated for many years and then when a bid comes along woefully lower than many were hoping for .
But Solgold was a completely different proposition to Atlantic with most of its resource a mile underground
However a white Knight did not turn up at Solgold ..lets hope the situation is different here !
It was more of a comment with regards to what you said about Elevra and them getting less than what they thought they were paying for 5toamillion but the free carry was a well known deduction
Whilst there are clearly things to be ironed out I don't think the carried interest for Ghana is a shock , certainly not 10% , maybe the 13 % though , as it is applied to most mining operations
I am not sure how the funding will play out but one thing I remember NH stating was that it was always AL intention not to sell all of our offtake to get to FID ..
My guess is if ALL allow them to proceed for the 22.5 % it will not be on the terms in the original agreement pro rata..there surely has to be a substantial penalty for not proceeding to stage 3 ..It would be interesting to listen in on that coversation !
