The new CEO has repeated the phrase 'match to market' many times during the presentation. They seem to be battling to find where to sell their tech effectively and he seems to have swerved all direct questions including cash runway.

Even though this company interests me I see it keep drifting downwards until either a placing at the end of 2023 or the announcement of a licensing deal for the sulfur cathode advances. From what I heard I expect no news that will boost the share price until around the next update from the CEO in around 3 months time.

Huge potential though so remains one of a lot of interest firmly on my future energy watch list.

MAFL have an investment portfolio of about £7m, underpinning a m/cap of £5m. The NAV valuation is conservative as it values the investment in the mining interest in Portugal at historical costs, not a reasonable future valuation. MAFL have no debt and sufficient cash for any normal business needs.

They are in the process of selling virtually all of their share in the Portuguese asset to a Canadian company [Ascendant Resources] and will end up with a free carry of 5% of the mine subject to receiving $2.5m next month and Ascendant completing a Bankable Feasibility Study by the end of Q1 2023. Ascendant have secured the funds to pay the outstanding amount to MAFL as well as to complete the Feasibility Study by signing a royalty agreement with Sprott [a large player in mining royalties] so funding is not a problem.

When the Preliminary Economic Assessment was done in 2021 there was a post tax NPV [discounted at 8%] of $246.7m. MAFL have an option to sell their 5% in the project to Ascendant for $ cash based on the NPV established by the feasibility study, discounted at 10%. I am expecting the new figure to be around the same amount or a little higher [inflation has caused some costs to increase but the mine is expected to be mainly solar powered; the new discount rate is 10% when the earlier figure was calculated at 8% & / But the resource base has increased which will support far greater cash flows from later years.

MAFL could be seeing an inflow of around $15m in cash into the company in the next 6 months. The CEO owns 30% of the company and is around 70 years old; it would be reasonable to expect an extraordinary dividend to shareholders. I am expecting the CEO to do an interview soon, where I would hope he is questioned about what he would want to do with the cash if the company takes up its option to sell the 5%.
