Brexit Brilliance - Supply Lines10 Jan 2023 12:32
From today's Supply Lines email from Bloomberg:
"Supply-chain pain caused by the UK’s split from the European Union still lingers for British manufacturers and retailers trying trade with the rest of Europe and beyond.
According to data from FourKites, over-the-road shipments crossing the Schengen border — which encompasses most of the EU — were delayed 38% of the time in the fourth quarter of last year. Trade within or outside the area, meanwhile, was delayed just 21% of the time.
Average transit speeds — the velocity from pickup to delivery, including dwell time and driver breaks — showed similar friction, according to FourKites, a logistics visibility platform. Shipments crossing the Schengen boundary averaged 3.9 miles per hour in the fourth quarter, compared with 4.9 mph for goods that didn’t cross the boundary."
More proof of the economic 'brilliance' of Brexit.
