The fight of our lives Part 13 May 2020 15:37
Just as we are now in a race for the Vaccine, be in no doubt Avacta is in the fight of it’s life to win the “Antigen testing race”. But the good news is that everyone in the Avacta team knows that.
So why Aviva over the rest of the pack:
Leadership
The head of the company Alistair Smith (who is a scientist first I believe) but still very articulate has been courting the media as more and more interest builds. Then you would normally have a basis for the optimism as scientists tend to air of caution. He has degree and PhD in Physics and was Chair of the Molecular Biophysics which established itself as one of the leading biophysics research groups in Europe. So that bodes well for us as he knows his stuff!
The Avacta Team
The are well aware this is a fight and race in a global crisis and that is why they will be working night and day to make this happen. This was confirmed in the below quote:
In one of the recent RNSs where Alistair Smith highlighted the teams work to get us to this point:
“I would like to publicly thank Avacta colleagues who have worked long hours and weekends to make astounding progress and generate Affimer reagents against a novel virus in only four weeks and well ahead of schedule.”
Avact to shareholder value
For many years right up to the top of helm it is clear the Avacta team believed we are very undervalued on the stock market. I believe other posters mentioned possible dual listing opportunities. The team are committed to working on what they do best in order to achieve the shareholder value. Avacta are due a significant correction. The success of the rapid Antigen Testing strips can bring that. They will only bring us news when they have a very high accuracy test that can steer the attention away from the early movers.
Contracts being signed so far by competitors are modest in the global numbers
Yes they are promising but they are modest vs the numbers that are going to be needed to get us out of this global testing challenge. So there is a huge market to go after. If Avacta get this right, our contracts will make Novacyts look like breadcrumbs. So ask yourself why the big contracts have not been handed out yet? Because the governments are crying out for easily administered, rapid and highly accurate testing. Saliva based testing means these could be easily administered. The other things our competitors (and you better believe we have plenty of them trying here) is “cost”. As well as the competitive advantage above and Avactas commercial rights, they are focused on bringing an AFFORDABLE test to the market that even the less well off countries can afford. Alistair Smith mentioned they will be affordable to the African countries too.
Existing Business
The point on undervalued was made years ago before this Covid19 testing solution. The previous broker targets are higher than the current SP without Covid19 testing solution priced in. So there is already a good base here.
