Dont sell any, give a small amount to an old lady over the road sometimes, but I use the wood burner to heat most of the property rather than burning more Propane - which I have to give money to Calor Gas for !

KK - I do a little project most days, its not too bad when you dont have to do a 9-5 any more ! Wife helps out when I am doing something really dangerous ! And I occasionally use local tree surgeons for the very large or awkward trees...
In terms of monetizing woodland, I estimate we have probably burned £1200 of logs in the last 4 years, as you dont get that many logs for £75 these days !

Good point, never thought of that, and there were EU subsidies for 'set-aside' and wildlife habitat etc.

Tons of woodland for sale here in Devon, but it depends on what its like and whats growing there. My stuff is very mixed indeed. I have 2 very large oak trees 120 years + Lots of smaller oaks some large sittka spruce and then a mixture of Alder Willows of various types etc. How do you monetize woodland ?

hi KK - I was semi-joking, I am not involved now with any serious business other than managing my own SIPP/investment portfolio. I have a property with around 5 acres of mixed woodland/paddock a small lake of approx 2/3 acre with Carp/Rudd etc and a 350M stretch of a trout river that the lake drains into. All of these things require a lot of chainsaw work as does the river to stop Hazel and Alder trees falling across the river in the winter. The upside is we have been burning firewood for 4 years now and are in no danger of running low ! I used to have an audio rental business (PA, Mixer and Radio Mike systems etc) But I sold this to my partner a few years ago before I retired. To be fair to myself though, the machinery I do have Is a full time job maintenance wise !

mrjames - you are correct, the Ganfeng deal will not be bad for KDNC but it is terrible for BCN LTH's ! I will make about 35% on this BCN deal but considering the aggro and the elapsed time it was not worthwhile compared to what I have made on boring old OEICS in the same timeframe.

If i 'needed' the cash for something I too would sell as I'm at about 60% down now, but as I dont need the money I dont want to crystalize my losses but I am furious about how disrespectful of us Giles Clark and his crew are.

I'm in this same boat too, I am 61 and I have swapped sales forecast spreadsheets for tree surgery and fishery management !

Why has this BCN RNS caused ZNWD shares to slump ? There is no logical reason other than people not fully understanding the RNS ?

uncleal - What is happening here should ripple out to people thinking of investing in AIM with the message 'Its just not worth the risk and hassle'. For all of the dozens of posters on other AIM share BB's saying things like 'Boom' and 'Multibag' etc etc I have made a ton of cash on carefully selecting the right funds and IT's. Also I never ever thought EMH would outshine this as an investment.

I see the M&G recovery fund only gets 1 star on Trustnet and is firmly in the bottom quartile over 3+ years of its sector, as I said it is now obvious why.

Fozdog - you are right. But I cant see how we could influence M&G. I have managed my investment portfolio for years and regularly hunt for better funds in particular sectors and have (in 11 years ) never held an M&G fund as most of them are carp !
