The law of averages does take care of a lot but what it misses is capturing the underlying social trends. By not capturing the levels of social distancing practised then you can’t even attempt to capture how relevant these values are in a new world with less social distancing. It is a real shame and I think everyone expects these figures to be reduced even if there isn’t a mutation. What is painfully obvious is that after the emotional and economic trauma we have had one way or another this year - no one will want to risk outbreaks in risky situations at schools hospitals travel industry dentists etc and for the sake of a £5 test we will have cotton buds up our noses fairly frequently for the next couple of years.

But I think it is interesting to note that the Abbott test is reading out weak positives... how confusing is that!

Unlikely to have occurred yet guys... but any idea about the first clinical vs full clinical ? Is the initial mean something has come off a pilot batch at least?

And what about the weak element.... isn’t it a yes or no??? Or is the Avacta test going to have an element of maybe???? I.e. the positive line is a bit faint?

No - I think perhaps I misrepresented why I can't take him seriously - it isn't his profession at all. He runs a business and that takes brains and serious social skills as any business owner knows. What I can't take seriously is the publicity he clearly enjoys, tattoos etc. When he partook in discussions about the merits of Avacta (which I think he did at some points) then that was all good. The tweets (at least some) however were in my view a bit of negative publicity that I felt we could do without. But having said that - that is twitter for you, the good the bad and the ugly. I'm not a snob at all regarding what you do as a profession, I'm more of a social media snob.

I don't hate the moleman.... I just think he is a bit of a 'Katy Price' in terms of the Aim investment world. I can't take him seriously with an Avacta tattoo. It doesn't feel like the right publicity - not all publicity is good publicity when it comes to investments... Look at the fairly dim view people have taken over the Medusa19/Boohoo involvement. Forgive me - if I'm being snobbish, I just feel that the science should really be at the front of the company and it is more presentations on the science that will give Avacta credibility - not the mole catcher buying back in.

So are you saying because the mole bought in we are up 5%?

the mole is no fool? Just because lots follow someone doesn't mean they know what is going on - look at Trump for example...

I've only invested in AIM since beginning of March. For those with more AIM years under their investment belt, is this the most researched share you have ever come across? If so - do you think that has an impact on the share price or fluctuations at all? In other words - are people WILLING this to go higher? Are MM's making it creep up because of the huge expectations here? Just curious on a variety of views.

Well this is the problem Richob that really makes testing even more important if we are going to go about our business as usual. There will be a great many people unable or unwilling to take the vaccine and if there ar 10/15 out of 100 of those vaccinated it will make testing in many situations absolutely required - not to even mention all the testing to work out if it is 10/15 or 20 or more out of 100. Remember the stats for these vaccines are expected to go down. So I can't see how testing can be any less required. If we are in lockdown - I can see testing less required - as soon as we come out, then it is testing that will keep the prevalence of the virus low. Think about - you will have a covid test when:
You go to the hospital
Go to the doctor or specialist
Dentist
Airplane
Cruise Ship
Testing in Schools
Universities
Care Homes

Given the implications, it would be very foolish for any government to not keep track of this for several years minimum.

No point having moans about people on Twitter or whatever... Fine to point out the dangers of getting hopes up to stem the ramping, but lets not bash - it really makes for a ugly read and anyone new would not have a clue what would actually be a balanced view without going through pages and pages on here ...which is just impossible.

Not the same thing at all comparing Innova to Apple... Did Innova design the test? Or did Xiamen Biotime Biotechnology Co? If Innova are distributers then not comparible to Apple at all.

I've seen a lot of articles about PCR tests and number of cycles - and that it is too sensitve etc and detects even dead useless virus - how would the LFT/BAMs and affirmers not pick up the 'non infectious' virus?

AS said in the presentation at end of September that Covid would potentially set back the start of the trial in Q1 because of the limitations being in place BECAUSE of covid. Many cancer sufferers have limited access to trials because they are all being put on hold / delayed due to covid. I expect covid could potentially really mess with outcomes.
