It can be BOTH incompetence and corruption. In no way am I suggesting the corruption is to directly discredit Avacta... I think it is 90% government organisations' incompetence for the record. Corruption does not only exist in communist states, in fact it is everywhere you look. Life isn't fair, and that is a fact. However, regardless of all of that, I feel let down by the sheer incompetence displayed in continuing to procure innova when several UK LFTs have proven themselves (even minus Avacta). Why at 15 months into Covid are UK tests not sat on my breakfast table rather than chinese ones? Why isn't the government interested in boosting UK companies given the CTax and VAT that could be recouped and jobs it would create?

Zoom - I don't think MHRA are exclusively run by tories, but I suspect there are many in senior positions that are in fact tories and have political contacts. Have you ever worked in an organisation where you were trying to achieve something obvious but senior management refuse to play ball? I've seen it often - management bring in their consultant friends, pay big bucks, and still achieve little if anything at all. It isn't quite a level playing field. If AS feels that he wasn't listened to, and he had bigger goal's in mind (AVA6k) then I can see him being a little reluctant to push very hard.

Wyndrum - I'm not for conspiracy theories either, but I would certainly expect the thought to have crossed AS's mind as well as the BOD. There is usually an element of truth in conspiracy theories - it is about finding it and working out what the actual impact is.

Mr A - I do agree that Avacta lack the people/skills/contacts to overcome these issues in timely fashion, but I would also question whether the pandemic itself has brought additional problems that they could never have skilled up for? Given the revelations of Cummings (obv a jilted lover but still much of what he says is probably 80% true) - I do wonder if the cards were stacked against Avacta given the complete lack of planning on the govenments part. What disappoints me is that the government haven't put processes in place to support the industry (especially as these words have been uttered by the most senior politicians word for word). It shouldn't have been this diffcult. However, having work in a large company for most of my career, I know that when you bring in 'consultants' there are many things at play other than getting a 'job' done. In fact that aspect usually prevents the job getting done quickly or effectively. I would point to these 2 DHSC contractors that are now at Innova as an example of this.

The question is whether or not they are progressing whilst we remain in the dark.

It is clear that there has been a huge issue with PD…and last night there wa accusations at AS on why the CV wasn’t larger. Perhaps someone on here has some insight into the processes of getting a CV done if they haven’t been driven away by ALL the disruptions.

The government and ‘samples’ have been a huge issue since this pandemic began. Evidence: CONDOR. This was meant to be the governments programme to assess tests. What ever happened to it?. Avacta was trying to get samples from LSTM from the Southern Hemisphere last summer because it was so useless. PD were ONLY a willing to use spiked pig saliva (frozen) which degraded the s-protein which affimers bind to. Why when cases were spiralling out of control since October? What would it take to get fresh samples to PD, developers, and other institutions?

Logistics needed to be set up. It clearly wasn’t set up at all. We know that 2 contractors working in DHSC in logistics for 8 months since Sep/Oct 2020 now work for Innova. This might not be a conspiracy but it is clear the government have not got measures in place to prevent conflicts of interest.

I would argue the elected politicians repeatedly show us this exact problem over and over again. It isn’t a level playing field and AS has stated a larger study has been underway. Clearly it is still an issue to get samples … ask yourself why? There clearly has been no process set up to get samples… it would be so simple to set up systems - testing centres could be used / just need a process designed and documented.

We had to get our child tested on Thursday- came back unclear. We did another test on Friday. Negative. On Saturday we had another email - sorry your test on Thursday was not unclear - it was negative. However the date of birth was listed as an excel date. Anyone else recall the error test and trace made last year using Excel 97 missing off contacts because of a row limit? It seems they still haven’t managed to get their processes into a proper database. Considering the cost - it is scandalous yet somehow totally unsurprising.

Aaaah the fond memories of Friday night Avacta Board Film titles and songs and PL and Doh banter and Indy posts about his lovely wife … those heady days of 2020. This is the first step… our technical transfer was in progress and I would guess a TT would take at least a couple of months for Biosure. I guess the question is how much capacity Abingdon have over all.

This is my point - government equipment is sitting in GAD manufacturing warehouses. They would have had to have set up processes that protect government resources. If the government procured swabs for example (we know they we in short supply) there could be disputes over boxes. We know the gov are great at creating red tape and slow to resolve disputes.

Wyndrum it could also be delays in distribution from supply chain or outbound distribution. With so many isolating it is not unreasonable to expect problems that everyone else is having in the country. I suspect stock has been being manufactured for testing since May and you don’t know what batches have been ear marked for and what snags are happening especially when government equipment and potentially government procured raw materials are in the same manufacturing warehouses that the Avacta LFT is being produced in.

The fact that government contractors have left short term positions in DHSC and gone to work for Innova (one can wonder how they got the very short term contracts in the first place) shows that the government control of their own goods and staff are far above board.

Thanks - the parents are a couple of idiots… I’ve never seen the kid not screaming at which usually I’m pretty tolerant about… but coming to a leaving party having had covid the week before in the household and having your kid scream the whole way through… seriously selfish and self indulgent. Another mum tested positive last week too and she and kid all stayed away from preschool despite being disappointed. The population is full of these idiots and seems like they are all working in gov as well.

My kid who just finished preschool has woken up with a cough - trying to do the pants LFTs and going to have to book PCR for today as well…. Not happy.

The Covid postcode checker is more purple than royal blue that is certain. Went to my kid’s leaving party for preschool. A kid was there screaming through the whole thing non stop (joy) but the mother had posted just last week that dad had covid and was isolating upstairs-but ‘dad’ was there yesterday. Fantastically stupid and needless.

Was just saying the other night - no wonder Avacta got shafted … government was being run by BJ Handjob and Cummings. But in actual fact it was the girlfriend’s dog all along…
