Speedy, yes I know JP Morgan received a large fine for spoofing gold fairly recently and so have HSBC and Dutsche bank in the past
Some fines were for similar practises in the treasuries market and S&P and maybe some others - so to what extent its more common (if it is more common) in the precious metals markets im not sure
So yes it does happen, but I said " same as people believe gold is manipulated beyond belief yet still buy gold for some reason"
Manipulated beyond belief - ive been buying gold since 2014 and discussing it online since and there are many people in the PM community who believe precious metals are suppressed by evil central banker and governments, but theyre the same people that buy gold and tell everyone else to buy gold
Why get involved with it if you think its a totally rigged game is my point
I note youve said "Over time the manipulation does not really matter " then people dont need to complain about it constantly :p
But I will add it only since the mid 2000s and post financial crash that golds done well, if you held gold between 1980-2005 it would have been awful.. really really awful
Not to go off on another topic but there was clearly no inflation at all between 1980-2005 because gold loves inflation and
