Ocelot inflation is bad for gold, if there's a lot of currency sloshing about, loose lending & big spending, why would you park your money in a safe asset?
The 1970s gold price was down to fear and uncertainty during the oil/energy crisis - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s_energy_crisis
Also let us not forget the abandonment of the Bretton Woods system was in the early 70s so gold was always going to have some kind of price discovery after that
Well the good thing is for current investors even if Alba never deliver production I think they're likely to hit more really high grade samples to create some buzz and spike the SP to give you a chance to exit
April 2013
"To call the gold grades reported by Stellar Resources (LON:STG) this morning bonanza might be under-egging the latest assay results from Gold Mines of Wales, in which Stellar has a 49.9% stake.
The most eye-catching sample from the re-opened Clogau mine in the Principality was 749 grams per tonne of the precious metal, which equates to 24 ounces per tonne.
A total of 16 of the 31 samples assayed better than 31 grams per tonne of gold, while 15 were above 62 grams and 10 above 93 grams.
Stellar chairman David Lenigas said: "The team in Wales continue to gradually re-open the underground workings at the old Clogau Gold Mine.
“These high grade gold samples from Clogau provide encouragement that the potential still exists to define new high grade gold mineralisation.
"In the current environment of declining gold prices, grades of this magnitude make Stellar Resources' Welsh gold project something the board feels committed to progressing."
Wow you weren't joking: Ivornomoney
"Feb 2013
Stellar Resources advanced on news it discovered high grade gold samples at the Clogau Gold Mine in Wales.
the company said it received promising first assay results from the venture though its 49.9% interest in Gold Mines of Wales. Assay results from underground grab samples ranged from 263 grams/tonne of gold to 11.65 grams/tonne.
The mine has the potential to contain other high grade pockets of gold in areas that have yet to be tested. Further samples will be taken from the surrounding area and a planned drill programme is very much the focus for 2013."
10 years later the same playbook being run
Of course it's not to say Alba wont actually find something economical and deliver but it certainly makes you think.
"It's a phenomenally good result (the results from March 26th RNS) no it's not a decision that leads us to reopen the mine, we need to go and do the bulk sampling below level 4 to find a much bigger zone of that kind of grade, but it gives us a lot of confidence in the ability to find that grade"
Maybe a dumb question, what are they looking for when they look these zones? areas of quartz? if they knew these zones would be too small to be economical even with fantastic grades of 113g g/t (I'm not sure you could hope for higher) what was the purpose of sampling them to begin with? surely save your time, money and resources to sample areas that could be economical
an RNS they release of "hey everyone look at these fantastic results" aren't fantastic results because they aren't economical to mine? they're meaningless other than raising hope there could be economical areas to mine that have yet been identified
"The share price is a disgrace and seems to be going no where fast.....thats a fact!"
It's not a disgrace it's just we have nothing firm yet, when we will reach production + who will own it
I've said before I liked the clarity of Newcrest and a 2024 start to production but that wasn't to be and I guess nothing is ever set in stone, fingers crossed it works out for the better in the end
Maybe selling now and buying back in when there is more clarity is the way to go, I think if I had more fortitude and brans I'd do that but it feels easier just to ride it out now until production.
Well even if the dewatering takes longer than expected no point worrying about it, what's going to happen? sp sinks to 4p? never going to sell for 6 so whether its 4 or 6 is pretty immaterial
I think anyone who has held for years now wants to see it through to at least production, however long that takes.
Lseo395 you may find if you look through someone's post history they have talked about charts, well, when linking to a certain someone's twitter, can you guess whose twitter?
I'm like a fish on a hook, you guys keep reeling me back in with these comments
I will come back Monday to check for an RNS and never to speak on this topic again!
Ok firstmodern good recommendation
I will go on a walk and I will try not to think about looking at archive dot org and costamooneys old lse profile, I wont think about his love of writing "IMO" and who else likes to do that, I certinaly wont think about his mentioning of a German TV show and who else flaunts knowing German
I wont think about it and even if I do it's all a coincidence
Nah I am being over the top now I will actually leave it
Dip I trust you to be correct , but I will also explain my thinking
If you look at JD's first few pages of posts, ctrl+f costa, see how many times he goes out of his way to mention and praise the name, indeed to he even says the following:
"As Costa pointed out in March last year (and prior)"
Someone who just joined lse knows exactly when someone else posted something the previous year? isn't that unusual to to pin point a date? especially when a date is of no use to anyone; just sounds like someone patting themselves on the back
But ok, JD is just a huge fan and waited for Costa to leave before joining for some reason.. seems like a shame but hopefully they've had a chance to connect elsewhere
I wont say anymore on the subject.
I said the costamooney account was banned, Bamps corrected me it was closed, fair enough, hardly a taunt?
And even if I was trying to taunt "ooo you were banned from a free forum!" devastating lol , this may shock you but I have been banned from forums before, hard to believe I know
"Its no good taunting him when he's not about...It says more about you than it does about him"
It's you? you're here to respond whatever you like and this is what you responded
Anyway lets not squabble hey, hows the GGP chart looking?
Yes the atmosphere on here can be quite combative
I've started reading more boards on lse lately and it's funny they're all the same, different names but people playing similar roles, everyone calling each other rampers and derampers etc
I appreciate people like you and Speedy on here because you both come across as genuine people who like just the topics you talk about, him gold, you mining/geology etc
Oh, forgive me Bamps, the fact he never wanted to clarify his old account + the fact it went at the same time as others who were banned I put 2+2 together and arrived at apparently 5
Well, even less of a reason to be mysterious
JD was costamooney just to clarify, his account was banned around the time Hydro was when they were spamming that that same message in protest at something being removed
He will say that wasn't him but it's not that big of a deal, I'm sure if the lse admin was bothered about banning you again they would have done it by now
To describe it as the "principal gold target at the Company's 100% owned Clogau-St David's Gold Mine" one would think they're very confident these results will come back amazing? otherwise it would be a mistake to describe them as principal rather than say "the initial gold target"
Darth is says on the info page "The BTFP ceased extending new loans on March 11, 2024."
https://www.federalreserve.gov/financial-stability/bank-term-funding-program.htm
But yes agreed they will get it rolling again if needed, not sure why it was put on a time constraint if it was useful.
MH01, when we talk about printing money we usually are talking about the Fed right?
they 100% do not and are not allowed to, what they create is bank reserves, please see this twitter thread on the subject: https://twitter.com/JeffSnider_EDU/status/1769762564844716406
It's no different than me writing you an IOU which may be worth something to you but its not like you can spend it.
Speedy that type of collapse would make* all things we value by fiat worthless
I need to proofread my posts before I hit enter
Speedy that type of collapse would all things we value by fiat worthless apart from survival stuff, it's not even worth thinking about.
Interestingly as of March the Fed is closing their "Bank Term Funding Program" aka BTFP which they started March last year
"The BTFP offers loans of up to one year in length to banks, savings associations, credit unions, and other eligible depository institutions pledging any collateral eligible for purchase by the Federal Reserve Banks in open market operations"
Currently it's up to the tune of 167 billion - 167 billion of liquidity just gone; we will see if it even makes an impact or not as it winds down
It basically just muses Northern Star might be interested in adding and might prefer to add in Aus rather than the US, this is some snippets
"Yet not all of its shareholders are overly enthusiastic about the $16bn Australian-listed Northern Star pursuing more assets in North America, given the track record of Australian miners there. Evolution Mining has moved into Canada, and the process has not been easy.
The preference of some is that it would pursue something closer to home such as a buyout of the $2.2bn Australian-listed gold miner De Grey Mining, creating an Australian-listed powerhouse to replace Newcrest Mining after Newmont purchased the business for $29bn.
Last on the block will be the Telfer gold mine, which Macquarie Capital is mandated to sell. Greatland Gold has first right to buy the asset.
Telfer produces copper and gold and is the largest processing facility in the Paterson province.
The valuable Havieron deposit, 70 per cent owned by Newcrest and 30 per cent by Greatland Gold, is 45km away"
