"Why would investors "invest" billions of $s in US treasuries"
Treasuries are a tool
You have to balance your books, treasuries are just as good as holding cash but you can lend out the treasuries off-book in the repo market
Now you can play around with your eurodollars without all that pesky regulation whilst officially appearing totally above board
Im not sure this is fully up to date but from ggps website it shows the mines in the area
It seems almost guaranteed there will be some other nice discoveries

dtrip really its quite clever
The eurodollar system needs collateral to work and the best type is US treasuries
Theres actually not enough US debt to go around sometimes can you believe? lately the feds reverse repo system is doing 500 billion a day of overnight reverse repurchase agreements
Primary dealers (big banks) are giving the Fed 500 billion a day to borrow their treasuries..
"Yayay, hope you don't leave but if you know of a better investment then please let us know"
Sorry to butt in
I've been following Albas journey but not had the confidence to yet invest and that today led me to hearing about SGZ after someone compared Albas processing plant (or at least their preliminary plant) to yours (yours looked way better)
Its sad to read through this board, same as many aim companies it seems like theyre full of potential and promise in terms of assets but have either incompetent, corrupt or lazy boards
Better investment? The only company I'm currently in is GGP, they have a sensational discovery in Australia called Havieron near the Newcrest Telfer mine which looks set to be 15-20moz gold/copper equivalent, they're doing a joint venture with Newcrest so GGP will only own 25% when all said and done and the mine is complete ~ or before 2025
Grades theyre drilling? incredible, still open at depth in all directions? you bet, other licences to explore in the Paterson which is proving to be a very rich area, you bet.. well worth reading all Newcrests and GGPs reports and drill results from the past year
But hat I like about GGP most is Newcrest, especially Sandeep their CEO, no faffing about like tin pot aim companies, lightening fast development, fully funded, 100 million needed? no problem, infrastructure? Telfer is already next door
Upside to SP who knows, at least double by September from here I'm when they release a PFS, probably triple, maybe 4x from here by 2025 when the mine is going
Theyre clearly selling down the red line - https://imgur.com/6ocjG5d.jpg which is keeping the price constrained
You wouldn't they can do it too much longer though, probably break out next week

Just some simple technical analysis, green area buyers red area sellers
A clear split after the 27th January drop that support became resistance at ~30
Looks to be at the bottom now if it holds like the previous 4 months, I know some big news is expected soon
Is it monetary inflation or a supply/demand issue?
Gold goes down with inflation
GGP holder here
Nothing bad to say about Wishbone and nothing but good things to say about GGP
The Paterson region seems like the gift that keeps on giving and hopefully all companies in the area can find a bit of treasure
"The fall in BTC juts about matches the Fall in GGP"
I know youre joking but it is odd how these moves and patterns repeat themselves
The entire move up by Bitcoin to $40k you could overlay on the 2020 silver move to $30 and it was almost perfect
CleverThoughts I'm in a very similar position to you
For a few months I've had an interest in Alba and been looking into the basics
People were very excited about the greenland graphite, then yesterday it was announced they would be swapping it for shares in a new company and a lot of people said "oh Alba would have had to of massively diluted shares to fund greenland projects anyway so this is for the best"
?????? If Alba themselves never really had a chance at doing anything with greenland then why was it ever talked up as a big thing? - They had it since 2015 and progress seems to have been slow, maybe a corner will be turned with the introduction of Greenland Listco
Clogau gold is very romantic and seems to be driving force for the SP but as of yet they only talk about quartz and not gold and are now looking to go through previous waste to try and find a little gold, which doesnt seem as romantic, but hopefully its possible and pays for everything else
If everything goes well with Clogau and its a viable mine then wonderful SP should do very well but it seems risky as so far my impression of Alba is theyre a big tease, promise a lot but never actually deliver anything and their SP moves on promise alone (I guess that's aim in nutshell)
I personally don't feel comfortable putting any money in Alba until they deliver something concrete and I'm ok with missing out on any initial burst up
"I've been digesting comments on the board and all I've read is Tier 1 , why has the thinking changed? "
Newcrest CEO said tier 2, all we have atm is 4.2moz MRE so its fair enough
Paddy tweeted about it - https://twitter.com/paddygall1/status/1394718197513957377
Little moves up or down around 20p will be looking very insignificant soon enough
Loads of drilling, lots of results, new mre, pfs September
Why did you buy
What did you value the company at?
What would be the driving force behind higher SP in future?
Has anything fundamentally changed?
I read a lot of speculation about people being paid to deramp, are people being paid to put a positive spin on this?
I am not an Alba shareholder but they have been on my radar for a long time, sentiment around greenland seemed positive, now Alba are letting them go so they don't have to dilute to fund, but they aren't getting cash they're getting shares in a new company that will have to dilute to fund ?!?!
I posted the other day aim shares seem mostly hype and hope, a tease nothing ever comes of, what a tease this graphite is
"because I think it's very safe, rather than high risk /high reward."
The good thing about GGP for me is I have 100% confidence in ggp/newcrest and hav which allows me to invest big (big relative to my own wealth), turning a safe investment into high reward
I'm expecting SP to trade in a petty tight range ~20-24 until we get a new MRE
Sudden big move rather than the steady upward climb of 2020
gold goes down with inflation
I know someone is going to point to "oh but the 1970s!" yeah but there was an oil crisis, middle east wars, the fear drove gold up
Look at gold to house prices from 1980s - mid 2000s, how did gold do vs property? awful! it didn't track inflation at all
It was only in the lead up to the 2007/2008 financial crisis gold started to get going, again crisis being the key
There isn't real monetary inflation, look at what banks are doing, look at bonds, you dont need to believe me but please go look at the activity and holdings of banks and then ask yourself who knows more about currency and inflation you or the people controlling it
And I know someone will say "central banks and governments control money not private banks!" and no, no they do not, otherwise the financial crisis in 2007/8 and the liquidity crisis in March 2020 wouldn't happen
Please go read Jeff Sniders work
Feel free to tell me off if I'm totally missing the mark because I wont claim to know anything beyond the basics
I find the idea of Welsh gold romantic and the graphite in greenland seems very promising
But what surprises me (I'm newish to aim/junior miners etc) is the timeframes, Alba put out their first Amistoq RNS in 2015, I suppose I need to go read every RNS to get a good idea of the process but surely 6 years is a very long time? does it really take that long after knowing there's graphite there to only recently determining its high grade enough for batteries?
Is seems like they acquire interesting projects, put out RNS about exploring/testing and then nothing ever comes of it
Alba have been around since 2005 or 6 I believe, what are their big successes in that time? I know they have a piece of an oil project at horse hill thats producing oil so that's something
Maybe that's just typical for aim, mostly hype and hope, I only really know about GGP and I've been spoiled with them since they've been working with Newcrest who are obviously are a massive company and have the funds and knowledge to move things on quickly
"Did we not learn anything this year from the MRE. Talk of 10-15-20m oz MRE and it was 4m oz, and the sp drop reflected the disappointment."
MRE came in December and SP was a record high in January? I will take that if thats disappointment
