I don't think they need to acquire another company in order to enhance their production capabilities. I suggested that they may have decided to invest in more or different machinery, if John Constable and his team recommended that course of action. If either the works at Shaw or Dukinfield could be extended to accommodate more production lines then perhaps that may be about to happen. Remembering that, as I pointed out sometime ago, vibration from heavy machinery would need to be avoided at the latter works due to the sensitive measuring machinery already installed. Watching and waiting is sorely trying for us all. I think they may have used some of that £20M in buying machinery, the overall engineering team John Constable and his two main colleagues have probably being investigating new forming machines, welding systems, and cutting machines. If so, then money is also needed for training personnel, to maximise production from these machines. When you learn, would please teach me ? -- Aerogels: I did some reading after seeing your note, but found no mention of copper being used, Aluminium is apparently in some cases. NASA has done a lot of work on aerogels and so is the US military. Thermal underwear for deep sea divers, maybe. There is no doubt , in my mind, that the Cad Ban will be imposed. What I can't discover is any date on the actual statement -- AND a date for the Ban to begin. I don't understand why you added the word "Apparently" in your last post. Do you think EURO will change its mind on this ? I would have thought they had given the industry a long warning of this ban --- Much too long. If it is as dangerous as they say, 6 times worse than Mercury or Lead, then there is no excuse for any delay. I purchased some shares years ago when Maggie was on the throne. No one asked me to, but my wife and I made a joint decision and continued to do so, very slowly, with little funds. We tried to take on board political changes like anyone would, but some were almost incomprehensible, both in their objective and implementation. I do believe, that now, the challenges faced by investors, and particularly, new investors, by the Brexit moves are daunting, and may reduce the amount of cash invested across the board. Those companies not having sufficient capital reserves may be tempted to call it a day. Vrs may be fortunate financially but I would hate to see anything that may rock the boat. A Private investor group should not wish to forswear all the previous hard work undertaken by Neil and his team, and require or request favourable treatment from that team. The recent appointments to the team, I believe, are for the Universal Good of the company and its stakeholders, and the economy of the UK. I realise that a group of investors may club together, such clubs have existed for years, but are they more successful in their aims than individuals choosing their own path ? Of late, you seem to make some definitive statements that you don't verify. The discussions with the Metis people was not a "Fiasco" as you assert. The discussions were very amicable and frequently reported. If you had been around at that time you would have known that Provincial Government elections led to a change in government in Alberta. For some reason, unknown to me, the new government did not seem very happy about matters concerning what is often referred to as, "Indigenous people". Nothing seemed to emerge henceforth.
You then say "Everyone in NF wants this" That may not be the case. There are a number of oil wells operating in Central Newfoundland with some more exploration going on. How will that sit with a foreign company wishing to take over much of the forest and roads ?? King, I mentioned NRs' health some weeks ago and suggested he needed a helpmate or two. Mrs May must read these pages, she sent him another Civil Servant, Peter Jay, to work with NR and Matt Walker to "Facilitate Matters". She at least realises the value of the company and its CEO in this relatively new materials field. I feel sure someone on here who is twitter competent will inform him of our and other colleagues concern that he sometimes should conserve his energy and continue to exercise his vital leadership skills but spend a little more time, if he can, with the family down in the woods near Cinderford. Dear J, a very warm welcome to the fold. I have read, or tried to read, patent applications on which NW has offered guidance. I think of them as "Source Material" something you can't get round. !! I had a discussion on here with him about the protection offered to the applicant against copycats. He assured me that the Patent Office is not a policeman !! This rather surprised me but it seems the patentee can resort to suing to protect their sole rights to the use of what has been patented, but this can be costly. I found out the following with another company going down the same path:
(1) Applicant presents documents to Patent Office.
(2) Patent Office grants Patent if clearly stated.
(3) Patent Prosecution is announced, this is set for a period by Patent Office to allow objections to be raised by competitors.
(4) Patent Issuance is given to applicant if no objection or objections are ruled out. A time period of perhaps 15 years is attached to Issuance. Applicant has sole right to use of object. Area covered by Issuance is also stated. The statement(s) in the document have to be very specific, so sometimes hard to understand for ordinary investors. Whilst interest is being expressed in share trade reporting can someone explain why although sells are clearly shown in RED, buys shown in BLUE, there often appears to be some transactions in YELLOW with NO notification as to whether they are sells, buys or giveaways !!
