That’s the bottom line Bamps. Newmont are no mugs and owning 20% of an asset that they know better than anyone will appreciate massively over the next few years is a great deal for them. Luckily it’s also a great deal for the owners of the other 80%.

Telling people that the SP is moving in line with a prediction after the event is a bit pointless, especially when the prediction is supposedly based on a chart with lines that go in all directions.

Don’t want to distract this with politics Doozer but last time there were adults in the room to keep things broadly on track when Trump was president. Pretty much every one of them have since said he’s totally unsuitable and this time there’s only sycophants left. A Trump presidency would be an unmitigated disaster. Harris, on the other hand, irrespective of your opinion of her, isn’t a criminal and will keep things going in roughly the same direction without doing too much harm.

As far as presidential candidates are concerned Doozer, the only thing that Trump will be good for is the price of gold due to the fact he’s more than likely to completely screw the US economy and by extension cause a worldwide rout leading to gold becoming a safe haven. I think I’d rather see gold continue to rise incrementally rather than a sharp rise along with every other investment crashing.

Normally markets price in expectations. We all expect the deal to be completed. Can only assume not enough traders know enough to be as confident as us.

Regarding the Lassonde curve, we’ve got the institutional investors so should be half way up the second climb. The fact we’re not is a bit of a puzzle but hopefully one or two favourable RNS’s indicating the pre-conditions for closing the deal are on track should kick start the SP.

Having said that, a healthy business with guaranteed returns can attract lower interest rates on any loans so it’s in our interests to get steady income ASAP.

Being debt free is probably not that important when it comes to actually running the business.

The main advantage for shareholders is that profits aren’t diverted to pay interest but can be given out as dividends.

All a balancing act to get the business where we want it to be as soon as possible. But that takes more investment requiring debt which is likely to delay or reduce dividends until the medium term.

I’ve used the volatility over the last week to top up to a million shares after getting quite a few in the share issue so I think we’re all in the same boat when it comes to our hopes and expectations.

The motivation for Newmont was to focus on core assets (Boddington, Tanami and Acadia) . The reason for the deal of the century was that they are retaining a 20% interest in GGP so they can cash in in the long run without having to do all the work, and they trust the GGP team to do the job properly.

Just my opinion of course but the facts would seem to back it up.

I wasn’t commenting on the rational behaviour of regular traders but more the behaviour of random people who may have set their sights on more than 7p then started to panic a couple of days later and inexperienced people who don’t know what forward selling is for example. There are any number of reasons why people may not have followed what to you would be the logical route.

I might be wrong but it’s just an opinion and one that bears out a prediction I made before the issue that there would be volatility for a while before the share price finds its true level.

Our SP will rise when the short term profit takers, both individual and institutional, have taken their 25%+ profits having picked up their 4.8p shares. That should be over soon and the true value of the company will become more relevant leading to steady gains with occasional jumps with positive RNS’s.

Just topped up at 6p.

Quite happy for it to go up now or I might have to buy some more.

Don’t mind a few uninformed negative articles if it helps temporarily push the SP down. Looking to top up at sub 6p.

Unless I’m mistaken the extra shares actually are for Newmont Ben, to give them their 20%. They only get them when the deal is completed which is why they’ve not been issued now.

Shares not yet credited and no message from ii to say why not or to say when.

Hoping for mid 5s tomorrow so I can top up to a million and bring my average below 6p.

7p by the end of the day would be nice.

Why would Newmont want an extra couple of hundred million when they believe that by taking an equity stake they will own 20% of a company worth multiple billions within a couple of years. They’d be nuts to insist on the cash now when they can sell their stake in a couple of years for much more if they wanted to cash in.

Wonder why less than 40% of the shares registered a vote. Would have expected a bit more interest. It’s hardly like a vote to approve an AGM!
