Some thoughts about use by vehicles28 Nov 2018 15:51
I am not clear on the issue of hydrogen storage. I understand that because of its small molecular size it tends to leak out of storage systems, and this is one reason to make it as close to the point of use as possible. OK, but I cannot see how there can be the equivalent of a petrol station for hydrogen because, as it was recently stated, a GH3 25tpd unit would require a total of ~1 acre of space, presumably with ancillary kit, storage for plastic etc,., and that is an unrealistic size. A typical petrol station in the Uk occupies much less space than 1 acre, and within built up areas, far less. However i can see this working for lorries where a depot might accommodate a GH3.
Second thought; how many operatives are needed for a GH3? Could the same number cope with more than one machine? Is it economical to have GH3s dotted around where they are needed, or might economies of scale dictate that some centrralisation is economically sensible?
Just wondering.....
