I don’t think Gold is IN a bubble - I worry that it is heading into a bubble - the current price has stabilised in recent weeks which is good. My point is that it’s not nonsense about the collapse of FIAT money that drives gold but geopolitical volatility and inflation hedging. Any gold rise from here probably means trouble and as we don’t need it to make a lot of money out of MTL I won’t wish for it!

Give it a rest - Gold is up 0.2% hardly flying! Silver is in breakout territory though. How do you spin that into your gold bug conspiracy?

For once a rational you tube interview! No need for Gold to go higher, small cap miners like MTL will attract institutional investors when they see the profits are sustainable.

Pedros timing is impeccable- either by accident or design. MTL 2% down on 8% dilution following exercise of options while Thor is up 2%. Both look good prospects. GLA

I have a few THX in my dealing account- they probably do offer a better short term bet than MTL but long term over 2 years MTL looks less risky and higher reward. Pedro might be able to sell here double up in THX and buy back later in the year when we are only up 10-20% - then again he might not. Good luck to him. Don’t think he should be pilloried . Each to their own!

I make that an 8% dilution- which isn’t positive for the short term share price - good news for Bowden who paid a fraction of the market price- gives him a hefty chunk of skin in the game which is positive. Like most here I have been heavily stung on AIM by share dilution so it makes me edgy. Might partly explain why institutional investors are holding off if they fear further dilution!

MTL,s mcap already qualifies it as a Small Cap for fund managers- it is a long way from the $2b needed to be a mid cap so don’t think that explains lack of institutional investors. Liquidity is good despite high level of insider ownership. Is it just because current mine life is so short? Once La India produces that will change. Anyone see unusual patterns in the transactions- volumes are consistently erroneously high with MTL

Cnr4ever - Rio2 is interesting- there mine build is largely derisked by Wheaton who gave them $150m in return for discounted gold on production- that’s quite a big statement. I expect MTL to rise by multiples in 2 years but it could also double in the run up to La India like Rio2 has

Without the CNR acquisition cash flows would have ended in 2027 - that’s not investable for most. The share price will rise on good news as La India production is de risked but it won’t leap forward until the mine is proven. Too many mines have failed and most investors see it as too risky. I don’t need a lower entry price - fully loaded in my SIPP and ISA with over 2m shares. Let’s encourage patient rational investment not traders chasing the gold bubble

I have it as about 8 which suggests we are being valued as an exploration not a mining company which given the current expectancy on Runruno and that La India won’t produce before Q4 2026 is probably fair enough

Swingers I agree with much of this. My point is that all the hyperbole over FIAT currencies is massively overblown. The yield on Japans 10 year bond is 1.49%! Despite it having 255% debt to GDP due to its massive QE program since the 90s. It’s not debt that threatens the US dollar and spooks the bond market it’s Trump! Gold IS a hedge and safe haven NOT a replacement for the USD. Let’s stick to MTL fundamentals explain that gold above $2,500 means huge profits and not scare off rational investors with Gold Bug conspiracies

The fact is that despite Trumps devaluation strategy there is no shortage of buyers for treasuries - they. have always sold 70% internally anyway- like all gold bugs you may want FIAT currencies to collapse but there is no evidence that they are. The YEN had to mange similar debt levels in 2000 - today its doubled to 255% of GDP but its inflation is 3% and interest levels are 0.5% - it manages this because of its large domestic market and can easily sell its debt - the US is in a much better position. US debt is a problem and the USD will devalue but it isnt going to collapse as you suggest! Gold is a good hedge in inflationary and volatile times and a good long term investment - almost as good as equities - but it isnt to going replace FIAT currencies unless we all start hunting with bows and arrows instead of using ocado! The reasons the gold standard was abandoned are the reasons why we cant fix FIAT currencies to an illiquid, physical resource now. If the USD is replaced as the global reserve it will be by something like the Euro Dollar another FIAT currency

It is a great time to buy some gold miners like MTL with low ASIC, zero debt and big reserves but be careful! If you believe all the garbage the algorithms throw at you on you tube you could get burnt. Do some research and check out some opposing views for to get a bit more balance. Gold is down 6% from its peak, and in the same period US inflation fell by 17%. Yes US debt is a problem, yes Trump wants to reduce the value of the USD, yes his big beautiful bill is inflationary but the market has already factored that in. 70% of US debt is held by US companies or the Fed itself, China has already sold off half its reserves and now holds a tiny percentage of treasuries - 122% debt to GDP isnt an existential problem for the US. Look at Japan. Who knows what the POG will do - much depends on geopolitics - dont forget it also lost 75% of its value in the 1980s and 90s - but don't bet the farm on rising gold prices! I hope for a stable gold price and a big rerate of MTL Q4 2026 when La India pours!

The price of gold crashed between January 1980 and August 1999 losing 75% of its value. High interest rates, introduction of Euro etc - I am not predicting a crash but gold won’t replace treasuries- it will be Euro Dollars and other more stable currencies not gold. Not enough of it, too illiquid and expensive to store and no income

If gold goes to $4,000 it will be because of massive geopolitical or financial volatility meaning misery for millions- careful what you wish for. Gold at $3,000 or even $2,500 means should still equate to big net profits for MTL. Don’t be greedy guys. That doesn’t end well.

That’s in the strand! Where do you live? Of course there are retail bullion dealers and no doubt there sales have gone up in tiny volumes. So what. The POG may go up, it may go down like it did in the 1980s and 90s. The point is we don’t need it to go up for the MTL share price to multiply so please stop with the gold bug conspiracy

Let’s celebrate breaking 8p and focus on MTL fundamentals- low ASIC, great reserves, no debt, positive cash flow, no need for gold bug conspiracy- it puts off rational investors so please stop

Anyone know why trading volumes are so high for MTL is it to do with CNR acquisition

Balanced article- hopefully we have avoided the bubble and gold will settle around $3k as geo political volatility eases. MTL with low asic and no debt doesn’t need gold bug hype to deliver returns.
